LIE detectors...not CONSISTANT ANSWER detectors

When are the guests on these shows going to figure out that these are LIE detector tests, not "consistent answer" tests???

It's my opinion that these guests think that as long as they give consistent answers to both Steve and the lie detector examiner, that they will pass. I don't think that that many people believe they can fool a lie detector. I can only surmise that they don't understand what the test actually does.

To anyone thinking about going on these shows and taking a lie detector test: this is not a test for whether or not you're giving the same answer over and over again. This is a test to see if you are lying! Get that through your head!

lie detector tests are not accurate a KGB agent stated the easiest way to fool a lie detector test is to simply have a good nights rest and stay calm

reply

That KGB agent was not telling the truth. The fact is a polygraph test is about 99% correct on whether or not a person is telling a lie.

Absolutely incorrect.

You're right, he is incorrect. It's 99.4% accurate. The only time it isn't accurate, and they dismiss all the results, is if someone smokes a lot of pot or is taking certain medications that don't allow their body to respond in a normal manner.

Lol these tests are not accurate. If they were, they would be used in court all the time. It's common knowledge at this point that these tests can't prove anything. You guys seem to have drank the Wilkos kool-aid.

And you seem to have ignored the fact that this isn't the same technology from the 60's. It's also not so much the polygraph itself, but the operator. If you've watched the show, you know there is a plus or minus grade. The operator is more likely to read the results improperly, the machine just takes measurements.

We need to keep this in perspective. We're not discussing whether or not a person is going to the electric chair. It's simply a way to determine whether or not authorities or other interested parties should look into the situation more closely. Whether a test is 99.4% accurate or is 75% accurate, it still identifies whether something is worth looking into. The fact that Steve throws them off his stage, is part of the theatrics.

My original point was just pointing out how many people don't understand the phrase "lie detector".
