WOW! He's really fat!

What the hell happened to the marine/cop physique? Seriously, I happened upon the show today and he looks like he's pregnant!

You could see it on stage but when he went backstage to talk to this couple, his stomach lead the brigade.

He is really, really fat! He looks like a blimp.

Wow! That's cold. He still hot in my opinion.

I read somewhere that he hurt his back (around 2010 or 2011) and he's made references to having had surgery on it one or more times. Because of that, he was unable to work out and exercise like he had in the past. If you watch the shows filmed in 2010 and 2011, you can see him leaning on chairs where he didn't before and allowing guests to sit when they probably should have been standing (I assume so he could sit), and any opportunity he could find to bend over, such as cracking up laughing, I think relieved some of the pressure on his back. It's a technique I use. I think that's why he started to gain weight. While I think the back issues have improved, they probably haven't improved to the point of being able to work out regularly; at least not like he used to.

So, cut the guy some slack. And let's not forget that he's over 50 now and can't be expected to be in perfect shape forever. I also, personally, think this makes him more "every man". So I don't mind it.

You are more than welcome to think he's hot. I don't agree. I think he USED to be hot.

I Googled "Steve Wilkos back surgery" and got no results. I'm not saying it's not true I'm saying Google is not recognizing it.

My uncle that's 60 some years old and a trucker (on the road more often than not; driving a big rig) had back surgery about 5 years ago. He did not blow up and went back to the gym once the doctors allowed him to do so. Because he's a long distance truck driver he had to get back in shape or lose his job. I don't believe that you HAVE to get fat because you have back surgery; I just don't.

I have no problem with you liking Steve a little heavier. You like what you like. I don't like him heavier and I am as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours.

I no longer find him attractive. You do? Fine.

reply

cujokay, you know that you and I are almost always on the same page, right? Keep that in mind as I play devil's advocate here for a moment. 

NO TWO surgeries are exactly alike, and NO TWO patients are exactly alike. The back surgery your uncle had may or may not be even remotely similar to the back surgery someone else had, including Wilkos. Taking me as an example, I had brain surgery to remove a brain tumor. It was the most BRUTAL operation and recovery I could've imagined. But OTHER people barely notice their brain surgeries--because they have a totally different kind, which is appropriate for their specific tumor [or other reason, such as Parkinson's-related tremors]. My middle fossa craniotomy left me COMPLETELY incapacitated for months afterward. Other people are up and about, getting back to their normal routines within a few days of OTHER types of brain surgery. Yet we both had "brain surgery."

My brother retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department following an on-the-job injury to his back. He had surgery--and was NEVER the same. (He killed himself last year--he couldn't take living with the pain any more, along with a lot of other issues, like severe depression and addiction to prescription narcotics.)

So I'd like to just ask that everyone keep in mind that without knowing every minute detail of Steve's back problem and/or any surgeries he may have had, we CANNOT know what he is/isn't capable of doing in terms of exercising. Even if his injury AND surgery were identical to someone else's, that still doesn't mean anything because we all heal differently.

My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brother. That had to be brutal.

I totally understand what you're saying. I agree. I don't know his history or particulars about his health. It's nice to have "friends" here to keep you grounded. I appreciate that.

Yes there could be hundreds of variables of which no one but Steve and his family are aware.

Having said that, Steve is not attractive TO ME with the extra weight. People like what they like. I have NO problem with people that find him attractive; that's their right. He was never an "Adonis" to me; not my type. I find him even less attractive now with the extra weight. That was my point. I stated it poorly but that was my issue. 

Thanks, dear. All around. 

And I completely see what you're saying about Wilkos no longer being attractive to you. That's the funny thing about humans, isn't it?! One person can find someone super attractive while another sees them as disgusting--or anywhere in between! 

To me, he's a great big teddy bear - it just looks like he would be comfortable to snuggle against on the couch. Kind of cuddly. But, I've always liked guys who are "bigger". I'm not sure what I'm trying to say. (I tried to insert a picture of a teddy bear but couldn't get it to work so pretend there's a cute one here)

reply

I see the teddy bear! lol

I understand what you're saying. My husband is 6'4" and weighs about 230. He's a big guy; a foot taller than me and outweighs me by 100 lbs. That's the kind of teddy bear I like.

Different strokes and all... 

I don't see why him being 50 means that he shouldn't be in shape. Just because someone is older, doesnt mean they can't take care of themselves by eating right abd exercising in some form.

Even if after back surgery they can't work out, they can still eat right which would stop them from gaining weight.

I feel like the whole "I'm old now so that means I can gain a bunch of weight" is just an excuse for becoming lazy.

"Cop Physique" that's a f!cking joke right?

reply

Well, nowadays, that's not saying much, but marines physique, that's legit as far as aesthetically pleasing.

He's lost weight this season....9. My girlfriend and I have sat in on a couple of shows this season and people have asked him about it, and he stated he's going to slim down. He was injured and is trying to get back in shape. That said, it's not like he was ever a muscular type of guy, just big.

reply

You sat in on a couple of what???

I'm watching the episode airing today, October 12, and you can really see that he is losing weight. So whatever he's doing is working. Good for him!

reply

My swipe/swype had a bad habit of poor auto correct. We sat in on some shows. I edited the post above.

Did he say how he got injured?
