It just needed to be better written. We see nothing in the first part but her seemingly to be disenchanted with having a husband and children for she wants to be with the rich guy and have things rather than love of a good down to earth husband and children. We don't get the impression that she already loves her family and that she doesn't realize it until she goes through the other life. That would be a good concept if it had been written some better, otherwise we tend to think she always has been superficial. She even ruined it in her other life for that guy wanted love and all she wanted was what money could buy. Is this telling us that she went through all those years with money being married to him and didn't care about love?

See, I don't see what you're saying at all. I think she loves her husband and her children but she's tired of struggling; tired of having no money. She can't help but wonder what her life would have been like if she hadn't given up the rich guy for the "average" guy. Who hasn't wondered what life would be like if they had made Decision B instead of Decision A? When she first finds herself in her new life, she is so enamored by what she sees and has that she doesn't realize how much she misses messes, kids arguing, broken down cars, struggling to make the mortage, etc. If you suddenly woke up with millions of dollar would you miss living paycheck to paycheck? After the shine wears off, she realizes she does miss all of her struggles. They made her life her life . That's when the transformation starts to set in and she realizes money doesn't buy happiness and her family is really the most important thing in the world to her.

I guess it just shows you that two people can look at the exact same film and get two totally different persepectives from it. Oh, and I realize this post is like a year late, but I figured I'd go ahead and respond anyway.

I think she loves her family too. I think she believes she is dreaming since so she is going to live it up. She even says when she first sees Gary (hubby), "Why is Gary in my dream....and how long do dreams last?" or something along those lines. I think everyone wonders what their life would have been like had certain circumstances went the other way.

And now I'm just now reading your reply almost 8 years later so you may not see this. I have not seen this movie in a long time and I usually am pretty good at picking up things and assume from what I read that I picked up those things I thought. I would have to see it again to see if I can pick up the things that you did for I have totally forgotten this movie. Thanks for your reply.
