Never liked this franchise

It was approaching Star Wars in popularity and influence back in the day, but I didn't see what all the fuss was all about. I also knew it was a rip-off of Ghost in the Shell, and I couldn't stand that damn visual design of the lurid green cascading letters that may or may not be katakana, I couldn't honestly care less (which is the correct thing to say, to be honest).

Now they're making another one, and I'm giving up on modern movies for having no new fucking original ideas whatsoever.

"I also knew it was a rip-off of Ghost in the Shell"

It is not a ripoff of Ghost in the Shell.

I say this as a person who owns all the manga, both animated films, the live action film, and the first SAC series, and thought the Matrix was overrated back when it came out.

If you're gonna have an opinion, at least bullshit a little bit less than the wachowskis.

It does seem a bit irrelevant to be making another Matrix movie at this time. I seem to recall that Neo died at the end and that was that, wrapped it up nicely.

I think to some degree the original Matrix movie was really big due to the internet which was really getting huge then and it fed into our excitement about it all, plus the industrial Goth scene had crossed over into the mainstream at the time. Several of my rock/pop friends all started wearing long leather coats and sunglasses all the time and started going to goth clubs!

I loved it.

This is a rip off of Ghost in the Shell? How?

And do you realize that Ghost in the Shell is a ripoff of RoboCop and Philip K. Dick? It's about a cyborg cop struggling with its identity.
