Animal cruelty

I wish I could report that I found this movie charming, but I can't. There were too many instances of animal cruelty. A boy hits a mother fruit bat with a tennis racket just to let off steam. The 'hero' of the film does nothing to help the injured bat and when the kid asks him what he can do to help her the guy says 'don't do it again'. Fat lot that does to help the injured and suffering. Wouldn't it have been better to help the bat and have the kids learn and bond through the process?

The kids try to shoot other animals with bee bees and no one does anything about it. A horse is shot with a bee bee and it's used as comedy. IMDb mentions nothing about this in the notes to parents. As a child I would have been horrified with how these people treated animals. My kids would hate this film as much as I did for that very same reason. A connection to animals is what helps to create empathy in children. That's why we have Bambi and Mickey Mouse etc... empathy is what keeps us from becoming sociopaths

I check the parental guide when choosing movies. It would have been nice if IMDb included animal cruelty in their caution. Shame on you. I'm so disappointed.

You can't be for real. You must be a troll. No one is this uptight.
You can't really be someone's parent. God help them if you are.
How about the movie Bambi? Bambi's mother gets shot. I could list countless G rated films and family films that have animals either getting hurt or killed.
Not every films plot will fit into your agenda. In this film a kid hurt a fruit bat and no one cared. Just like real life sometimes things happen that are upsetting. Not every moment of every film you watch will follow your morals. I'm against murder but I loveTthe Godfather.
If it's your children you worry about you should be watching with them, then use it as a way to teach them. Why couldn't you just let them know that the boy in the film is an actor. And he's playing a role in a film that is pretend. And the role he's playing was written by someone. And this role is of a little boy who is not very nice. He hurts animals and has no remorse. In real life hurting animals is wrong to do. But animals didn't really get hurt. It's all pretend...

Wait... maybe I should be having this talk with YOU. You're aware that the fruit bat didn't really get hurt, right?
Not every movie is written and directed by PETA.
Rainbow Tribe is a cute fun family movie. Not the work of the devil or animal haters. Pull the pole out of your butt, take a deep breath and get over yourself.
