Eric Christian Olsen was 30, pushing 31, years old at the time of filming. Feels to me like some of these guys would be a little more comfortable in "To Catch a Predator" than in the classroom. How old is too old to play High School students? Anybody got some other great examples of actors WAY TOO old for the roles they are playing.

Gabrielle Carteris was 29 when Beverly Hills 90210 started and her character was 15. Keiko Agena was 27 when Gilmore Girls started and her character was also 15. Danielle Harris was 29 when Halloween (the Rob Zombie one) was filmed and she was playing a high school student.

Julie Benz, who hasn't resembled a teen in probably 20 years has been playing them for well, far too long.
There was some crappy straight to video movie she did some years back which was basically a ripoff of Mean Girls. I think that Abby girl from Dawson's Creek was her co-star.

its always been like that, i don't think i have seen a high school movie that had realistic age characters,
the actors are always in the late 20's or early 30's and play teenagers.

Dante Basco was 31 when he played a high school student in Take the Lead. And I cannot believe that all of these 30 year old actors can do that. They really dont look it in the movies.

Let's face it, people. How many of the actors and actresses playing high school kids in this movie are really of high school age? Not many, I'm guessing.
shareHow about Grease, Welcome Back Kotter, and Happy Days. With the exception of Erin Moran and Scott Baio on HD most of the teen characters were played by actors in their 20's or 30's.
shareIt’s been a cinematic conceit for decades that teen characters look older than real teens. In fact, it always strikes me as a bit odd when I see a teen character in a movie or TV-show that actually LOOKS like a teenager. I think it comes down to two things: First, older actors tend to have more experience and are just BETTER. Second, labor laws make working with an underage actor nearly impossible.

Not that well when he was playing the same character that's supposed to be less than a year older (17) when he himself was 28!
Not to mention his "girlfriend" in that one (Robyn Lively) was only 17.

Also Michael J. Fox played young Marty McFly (17?) in Back to the future trilogy when he was 24 - 29.
yeah, he really did pull it off. Looking like a kid when you're nearly 30 isn't a bad 'affliction'.
