When the cover of this movie, and the actual trailer spoile the whole thing for you? I'm not even being figurative. The cover is the last scene in the film and the end of the trailer is the end of the movie. I mean....?????
shareThe reason why that works with this movie and not others* is because people (unless they've seen REC) won't know that it's the ending until they see the movie. And if they get invested enough in the story, they will still be scared when they see that moment.
*For example: TERMINATOR GENYSIS. People could tell that JOHN CONNOR being an evil Terminator was supposed to be a twist.
Gotta admit Terminator did mess that up pretty hard.
Now I will also say thank you for your response. In addition I saw Quarantine before REC and enjoyed everything up until the end. Not because the ending was bad per say but as it got closer to the ending I realized (due to the trailer)what was about to go down. I'm not hyper intelligent and I wont pretend to be so I figure most people caught on quickly if not quicker than I did.
Personally I didn't find any part of the movie scary. I actually thought it was just a really cool concept. So that part just made me a little annoyed is perhaps the best word as I felt what intellect I did, and do have was insulted.
That's just my opinion on it as to why I don't think it works for a movie to do that at all. Granted TG is possibly the most horrid offender of this....horrid...horrid...offender.
If you come to this movie fresh, there's no way you can tell the cover spoils anything. For example she may just be crawling along a tunnel or something, which is not unknown in horror movies.🐭
shareWell, the trailer showed her being dragged away screaming. It was in my head as I went to watch it. As the movie went on, and that scene hadn't happened yet. It did kind of give it away. When she was in the attic at the end, you knew what was about to happen bc of the trailer. So it did give away the ending for me.
