I'm pretty certain this has been done before.

So I read someone on here saying that James Gun came up for the premise of this himself but I remember hearing about a book with a pretty similar premise to this. It's called "House" and it's about a group of people who all get trapped in this house and a soup can gets tossed into the room with them. But written on the can is a list of rules basically saying that they have until dawn to kill one member of their group or the killer will murder them all. The only difference is the book had a lot of Christian messages and stuff in it (I'm not sure because I never read it I just remember looking at the back of the cover.)

Sounds like even more proof this is unoriginal as hell. It also steals a whole lot from Battle Royale.

reply

Don't get me wrong.. I think it looks cool but it sure looks a lot like Battle Royale... which I don't mind. Hopefully this could do what Hunger Games couldn't. Good cast.. good writers. I'm in.

reply

Good writers? I think that's being extremely generous.

This looks unoriginal and vapid, I see nothing here that indicates any level of writing sophistication, none at all.

reply

Calling James Gunn a good writer is generous????

reply

Oh hell yes, that idiot man child wouldn't know good writing if someone threw a volume of Shakespeare's collected works at his frizzy-haired head.

When Scooby-Doo 2 is your magnum opus I wouldn't go begging for generous helpings of unearned praise.

reply

I get the hyperbole in calling Scooby Doo 2 his magnum opus, and it's a great way to get your point across. However I think we can all agree Guardians of the Galaxy is his magnum opus. Financially and critcally, it's the best thing he has ever been a part of.

Now if you want to bring up that it's not his own original work, go right a head. But to be fair, Scooby Doo wasn't created by Gunn either.

reply

Yes the Scooby Doo films were poor but he did well with Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake, Guardians and Slither. He is a talented writer.

House of 9 had a similar concept to this movie

reply

Yes I remember that book! It came out years ago. This does seem similar just on a larger scale.

reply

this honestly sounds a cross between office space or the office with all the humor drained and battle royale

reply

Super, Slither, Terror Firmer, Tromeo and Juliet.. he does have a decent list of original works to his credit.

reply

Don't forget about Kill Theory
