What's with the camera work?

This could have been such a great horror flick, what on earth was going through the director's mind when he decided to film the movie with a handheld camera???

I couldn't tell what was going on for most of the film as the camera just bounced all over the place. The horror and action scenes were unwatchable at best.

seriously screwy camera work.
i watched and rewound the scene where they're in the Tunnel Rats' train car at least 3 times trying to figure out what was happening.

Tell me about it, why on earth anyone would think filming in that fashion would be cool is beyond me.

It wasn't to "be cool", as to be a good human being. They decided to hire a handicapped person for the production. Unfortunately, it was the cameraman, and he had Parkinson's. So be nice.

Besides the story, this was another gripe I had with the film. Ever since The Blair Witch Project, "shaky cam" camera work is the rage.

reply

It's just a cheap way of filming because they can use really naff special effects and shake the camera around so you can't see them properly :0)

I had the same problem. I'd love to know what was happening. It didn't work for me.

Had to turn it off halfway through, I couldn't stand the filming. Even when they're all standing still, the camera is still around shaking like crazy. Totally distracting.
I usually don't mind handheld camera filming, but this was WAY over the top.
