Location in Corsica

Does anyone know where it was filmed in Corsica? All they mention is a boat, I guess to the continent, so it should be in the north.

Just happened to watch this wonderful fim tonight and just ran across your question. There is some more location info shown in the "making of" feature on the DVD. They show a few more details of what they did to remake the big old house where the Kevin Kline character lives. And the hotel where the lead character Helene works is a real hotel: Hotel Les Roches Rouges which is located in "Piana, Corsica".

Which Google maps shows as being on the west side:

I just started to watch the movie on Netflix streaming - and having noticed a credit to a Corsican organization at the beginning, was wondering - and then she rolled into that wonderful old hotel. We had lunch at Les Roches Rouges on one of Nancy Covey's (Richard Thompson's wife) great music tours in 2006. Wonderful food, a great view, and a little later that day we had the great good fortune that the road to Calvi north of Porto washed out in the rainstorm, and we had to turn around at Porto and take the D84 up through the Gorge de Spelunca. The bus had a flat tire and we all had a great time, except those who were a bit squeamish about the windy cliff edged road up the canyon. Both the hotel and the canyon trip are highly recommended - as well as Festival Tours for small group tours with impeccable taste but no stuffiness.

I'm a dummy. I honed in on the 'boat to the mainland' and it didn't dawn on me that the island was in the Mediterranean. The mountain scenery blitzed me -- huh? A really, really big island? And I read National Geographic a lot too. Interesting film, very well crafted, very French (the kissing, the cigarettes...)

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen/idol. Civility, harmony, unity!
