Does anyone know if the opening of the movie was actually filmed that way and made to look like long ago (60's/70's) or was it some kind of actual archival footage from that time period?

They may have been actual home movies of Adam Sherman's early life.

You may walk on the beach, you may swim in the ocean... under SWAT team surveillance, of course.
