Strange Ending

Surely this must be the first part of maybe a trilogy?The sudden ending would suggest this.Anyone know if this is the first movie in a trilogy?

The movie is really intended to be a pilot for a potential TV series. Still, I think it needed a bit more closure than we got. I still liked it overall though.
