Did they ever give a cover story on the show as to why she left?

No, not really. The only thing that they showed was that Danny was sad when she moved away on the episode that introduces Lexi. She probably left the show to progress in her career. I don't blame her either. But I think that 'As the Bell Rings' should be 15 minute shows at the least. They're alright but they aren't long enough to follow a plot.
shareI think Charlotte should visit in a special 2 part as the bell rings episode (each being 5 minutes to add up to 10) and it could explain what she left for and whats going on now.
