LOVED it

I have never been so pleasantly suprised by an indie slasher movie before. This movie is excellently filmed (I'm serious it looks like a theatrical movie) with great acting and brilliant characters who are enjoyable to watch. There are some nice pratical gore effects with one murder scene in particular standing out for me (kind of a re-imagining to Marcys murder in the original Friday 13th)

Director Kerry Beyer who did so much more than direct(as well as star in it!) deserves a lot of recogntion for this work - in fact so does everyone involved! I urge people to pick this movie up, you can buy it through the spirit camp website presently.

Agreed! I thought it was great. The characters were entertaining and hilarious. It was just a really fun movie and the filming was amazing! Sound was great...nothing about it seemed low budget at all, especially compared to other low budget/indie films that have come out on the DVD market. This actually raises the bar for indie horrors, especially slashers, and I think it deserves a lot more recognition as well.

Really? Where you saw "entertaining and hilarious", all I saw was bad acting, worse writing, and failed comedy. The acting was so uniformly bad I have to add bad direction to the list too, as it's the director's job to get the best performances out of the cast. I understand that with low budget movies, especially in the horror genre, you aren't going to get the cream of the acting community hammering at your door, but you would imagine that there are some decent new actors out there who would give this kind of thing a go, if only to get an actual movie on their resume. There wasn't a single good performance in the entire film though. I'm not sure how, but they managed to be wooden and overact at the same time.

How you can claim this raises the bar for indie horrors I really don't know. At its best it was mediocre. At its worst it was just painful to watch.

Gotta disagree with you and agree with the other 2 posts. It was a hilarious and campy recreation of 80s slasher movies. Especially the '__ ___ massacre' type flicks.

Worth watching if you're a fan of cheesy 80s horror movies in my opinion... deserves at least a 6. Seriously, if you didn't laugh at this stuff then you're just not a fan of the genre...

I'm actually a massive fan of the genre. It's why I decided to give it a go in the first place. And why I disliked it.

I even love bad horror movies, as my DVD collection can attest to. This just wasn't one of those "so bad it's good" films though, or even purposely comically bad. It was just plain bad.

I know what you're saying, believe me. Movies that you should love judging by their ingredients, that for some reason just don't do it for you. I will concede that the gore is weak and almost always off screen.

I would however argue with the 'it wasn't purposely funny' comment though. There were definitely some comedic-on-purpose moments in my opinion. You may not have found them funny, but they were there (again, in my opinion)...

Did you happen to catch the new movie called 'spring break massacre'? Now to ME, that is one that tried to capture the 80s massacre movie feel, but failed... so as I said I know what you mean...

"Did you mean for all those words to come out like that or did they just fall out randomly?"-H.H.

Fair comment. I didn't mean to imply that there weren't any intentional comedic moments in this, just that they didn't connect with my particular funny bone.

I should add that I do have a lot of respect for Kerry Beyer for his effort. After all, he wrote, directed, shot, exec-produced, edited, and even acted in the thing. He's pursuing his dream, and even though I didn't like the finished product, many, yourself and the others who have posted on this thread included, did, so he should be applauded.

And no, I haven't seen 'Spring Break Massacre', though I'll be sure to check it out soon just to see how it compares. It's currently rated a 3.9 on here, but that means nothing to me. For example, I'm a huge fan of Uwe Boll's 'Alone In The Dark', which is rated 2.3 and #89 in the IMDb Bottom 100. Don't get me wrong, I do know that it's terrible on pretty much every level, but for me it's the ultimate "so bad it's good" movie. I honestly think it's a work of absolute genius!

Now I gotta disagree with you and agree with the other guy

I'm all for cheesy horror movies with an 80s feel, but this film suffers from the same thing a lot of more current horror movies suffer from: the Final Girl doesn't win.

My favorite part of horror films is when the final girl kills the killer. Not only does she NOT do that, but the guy rapes her as well as survives to possibly kill again. And that's a shame because I really liked the main girl in this.

Aside from that I was kinda enjoying it on a "so bad its good" level up until that last act where it just made me mad. I'd rather watch Hatchet or Leslie Vernon again.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

Cool.

I really enjoyed this one too! This movie had so many both funny and scary moments and I have a thing for B-horror in general. The other day I watched Spring Break Massacre and it just didn't even come close.
