Simon looks exactly like Jonathon, so if Claire would have just admitted to her mistake and then told her husband that Simon was stalking her, the whole thing could have been avoided.
I mean, it's not like her husband can blame her for what happened, seeing as the man she slept with looks exactly like him! It was obviously an honest mistake!

IMO, the only way this plot would have worked is if Simon was the long-lost evil identical twin of Jonathan. Otherwise, as mentioned above, it is simply inconceivable Claire would have failed to notice Simon was not Jonathan.
shareFirst, I am NOT condoning rape in any form, but she kinda brought this on herself. She wanted her husband to be "different", and she thought he was. The psycho guy just used her stupidity to his advantage.
