Book ending or film ending?

Which did you prefer and why?

Movie ending. Thought it was much more realistic.

If you prefer the movie ending, then you miss the whole point of the story. The story is not about a sick girl. It's about a family with a sick girl. The book touched on the dynamics of the entire family. For instance, Jesse felt guilty because he wasn't a match for Kate so they had to have another child. That's why Jesse became a fire bug. As for the ending, I thought it was great. I don't believe it was manipulation, I think it was meant to let us know that life is unpredictable. You never know what's going to happen. I believe the movie took the easy way out by makking the movie about a sick girl.

The book's ending because I found it had more emotional impact on myself.

The book ending because it wasn't what I was expecting.

I preferred the book's ending because it was the twist that Jodi Picoult's give her books--the way the book was written is the way the movie should be portrayed.

Ms. Picoult states she always knows her endings before she writes her books -- why change it for the movie?

The twist is the family, though they may not have known it, were giving all their attention on their firstborn, even to the extent of having a child to give that firstborn what was needed to keep her alive. They didn't see how it was hurting their other children. They were so focused on getting the kidney that the other girl had to go get herself a lawyer to 'save' herself. After the court order, the sibling was on the way to give her the kidney anyway...then a tragic accident occurs, which took it completely out of the hands of the 'mankind' and placed it in the hands of let's say "God"....

The ending has meaning because of that very reason - we can't make things happen the way we want them to happen - we have to trust in perhaps a higher power. The parents thought they could make their daughter live by having another daughter and/or child to save her.

It didn't work out that way - just like many things in life don't work out the way WE want them to.

Just my opinion.

Film ending. I read the book before I saw the movie, and I felt really manipulated by the way the book had a "twist" in order to pull at our heartstrings. It signifies that Anna loses, and I didn't feel comfortable with that ending.

Ironically the book ending seems more hollywood than the movie ending. I prefer the movie ending.

Book ending 100%! That's the reason it's called My Sister's KEEPER! Because she ends up keeping her sister alive. I just think that Hollywood has to keep it nice and tidy, but I think the book ending was so much better because you didn't expect it.

I enjoyed both the book and movie - for different reasons. Both made me cry. No, wait ... both made me bawl my head off. But I prefer the book ending because I was not expecting it.
