WHY!!??!?!?!

Don't remake this!!! Please don't!

Why would you do that, it's not going to be better than the original.

I think it's very timely to remake this film now, yes it's a classic, but sometimes a classic movie is ignored by younger generations and they can't relate to the topic unless it's presented with a fresh eye, produced using the latest technology. I'm very excited to see this new version of Johnny Got His Gun, especially knowing that Ben McKenzie is starring in it, he does a great job communicating non-verbally, I can't wait to see him in a role he can really sink his teeth into and really flesh out a character.

Yeah, I get the feeling that this may be the role that really puts Ben on the map as an actor, it's the type of role, that could really be the role of a lifetime for him. I'd really like to see that happen for him. Open up more doors for him. I think he's got real depth as an actor that he hasn't been able to tap into on screen as yet.

Do you know if the film has a distributor yet? I hope so, I ask because we're (fans of Ben in the USA) are still waiting to see 88 Minutes, which doesn't seem to have found a distributor here yet. I would be so disappointed if I were unable to see this film.

Anyway thanks so much for the update, I really appreciate it.

actor2go I agree to keep an open mind. But you know, it's a bit logical that I have this mindset about remakes. Of course there are remakes that are 'better' or have new original ideas in it. But generally remakes don't add anything but color.

The information in the rest of your post I did not know, so thank you. I too hope that because of this remake more people will see the original.

chattycathy326 I agree with you.

From your review of the early screening (Jammy person you).It seems that Bens fairly long lay-off haas really paid off. It paved the way for him to be choosie about new roles.
Ben's shrewd and he must know that he can excel in such an intense role.It is vastly different from other roles. It will be a great boost for his career.

I'm glad we do get to see his gorgeous eyes and lips etc.I didn't want to see a disfigured Joe/Ben that would be toooo much!
The short hair and bare feet I don't mind. He's got really cute ears and such handsome feet.Good props to Ben for being so gutsy and taking this role on.I think this angsty role will show him at his best.In my estimation he is already above and beyond the rest of "Young Hollywood".Edward Norton Who!!

I'm not sure this is a problem to make a remake of this movie, coz it was an adaption anyways! The story was "stolen" from the novel in the first place, so the novel's fans could have felt the same!
Generally I dont like remakes neither, but as I've never seen the first movie ...and I mean, it's Ben Mckenzie we're talking about, no chance I'm gonna miss it:p

Dalton Trumbo wrote the original novel as well as directing the 1971 film. The story is based on real events that occured in World War 1.
