Who was the hunk in the love scene with Kate?

My girlfriend and I were wondering who was the hunk in the love scene with Kate? He was gorgeous...It's a shame he was killed off. Hopefully a casting agent might notice him and give him more exposure..he certainly has the looks and presence...hopefully the talent; regrettably his part was not given much.
