Movie + Show Canon Sequence of Events

Frankly I think that with a few line cuts or scene cuts from the movie you could re-edit the movie to be in line with the show e.g. Nolita and GW's kid mention, getting rid of LaTrelle talking about going to see Ty's play (since chronologically its highly improbable it could have happened in the series, plus LaVonda pretty much explains about Ty's play...etc)

However the only problem with doing this to make it flow well into the tv show is somehow resolving the whole Brother Boy getaway in the movie when he already escaped in the show.
Now unless they re-release the movie or tv show with a little scene between Dr Eve and Brother Boy along the lines of 'did you really think you could escape Earl?' thus showing that after Brother Boy escapes in the show, he is caught and then sent back to only be rescued in the movie.
But of course this is all speculation. I doubt very highly Logo, the actors, or the DVD creation and distribution company would ever do that, but it would be nice to do something like that to make the movie and show flow together without SO many contradictions.

I watched the series (which I loved--even the arguable acting of Jason Dottley) before seeing the movie, since I knew that it had been conceived as a prequel. So I too was a bit surprised to find incongruences when I saw the film, particularly bearing in mind that story related there is supposed to take place immediately after Peggy's death, i.e following straight on from the last episode of the series.

Obviously Wardell rescuing Brother Boy from the mental institution (BB had already escaped in the series final), the reference to Nolita and G.W. Nethercott's kids, and LaTrelle attending Ty's play (he'd already been in a totally nude gay play BEFORE Staccato??)--all mentioned by Dr Cosmo--are the most glaring examples, but also Sara's behaviour towards the end of the film (no longer the psycho of the series) and the total disappearance of Jacob (wouldn't Ty have sought him out to explain what had really happened??) had not been thought out very well when making the series.

Another thing that struck me, and about which nothing much could have been done, was the physical appearance/aging of various characters. Apart from the fact that several of the original actors were replaced for the series, others, namely Olivia Newton-John were visibly much, much younger when the the movie was made 8 years earlier.

Still, a thoroughly enjoyable series and movie.

Yes, I've been a bit slack recently, but only due to lack of time. Still, nice to know that someone has missed me!! ;-)
