I really enjoyed this film..

...even though it had a few problems. I thought it was funny, loved the music and the characters and the basic premise was pretty good, even though the ending was pretty far out.

I'm wondering is there will be a Dark Shadows 2

Pretty much a universally hated movie, but I enjoyed it too.

Nowhere near as great as the original series or the 1991 revival, but Tim Burton put his own twist on it like he always does and I appreciated that.

I still think it would have came off a little better if Helena Bonham Carter wasn't in it and that ridiculous sex scene was removed, but no movie is perfect. Especially a post-1994 Tim Burton movie.

It wasn't universally hated. It just hit mixed reviews by critics. It's such a strange movie that people can't decide whether to like it or hate it and that's why the reviews are so mixed. I sorta like this movie mainly because I have a thing for movies based on tv shows. This also really had the potential to be awesome. Dark Shadows was such a great show that it could have worked so well as a movie. But no Johnny depp and Burton had to get their hands on it and couldn't decide what the heck to do with it.

It's one of the favorite Burton movies, i kinda like that it's different but with a hint of what DS once was.

It was horrible. No self-respecting fan of the original show would enjoy this travesty. I'd be willing to bet you're all relatively young and know more about Tim Burton than you do the original show.

I do too....

I've never watched the series....

I've grown tired of Depp in these Odd roles....But for some reason I enjoy the hell of this movie....

for me, Its Underrated...

Unfortunately it BOMBED, so theres never going to be a sequel....

but I'll just rewatch this every few years and enjoy it...

I only liked it a little the first time I saw it. Then saw it again on HBO and really enjoyed it. I bought the DVD and with repeated viewings, i like it more and more. I think it's the seventies score. Takes me back to my childhood!

Helena Bonham Carter is so beautiful and hilarious as the boozy doctor. That Collins family! Who knowingly retains a physician whom they know is a lush? lol

Carolyn is cool as a misunderstood brat. Little David is sweet. Roger is a louse and a creep, what a rotten dad. The actor who played him was great. Angelique was gorgeous and her own worst enemy. How could she carry a torch for a guy that many centuries? Get over him already.

Willy, a riot in a small role. When told by Vicki, "Collins, Collinsport?" I love his answer. " Oh yeah, I never got that." He was clueless.

Michelle Pfeiffer was elegant and lovely trying to hold her shattered family together.

Vicki was smart and clever. The only flaw with her character showing up for a job interview is that she changed her name on the train to Victoria Winters. Didn't she apply for the job of governess with a different name? Her answers during the interview were amusing and clever.

The ill-fated hippies were fun, especially the one who kept calling her "Veronica".

Johnny Depp gets a lot of flack, but I think he pulled off the Barnabas role flawlessly.

So sorry there won't be a sequel. That very last scene makes you think that they were definitely planning one though!!

I really wanted to like this, but it is convoluted and boring. If you aren't a fan of DS(and even if you are) I really don't know how anyone can follow what is going on in this movie.
