Abu-Lias and Malek Question.

*SPOILER*

In the "Last Chapter", Abu-Lias (the owner of the restaurant) convinces Malek (the illegal immigrant who was working in Abu-Lias' restaurant) to accompany Omar (the young man who was in love with Abu-Lias' daughter) and go to the drug deal in the parking garage. Since Malek was beholden to Abu-Lias because Malek didn't want to lose his job because he needed the money for his mother's operation, Malek agreed - reluctantly - to go to the drug deal with Omar.

But why did Abu-Lias insist that Malek go to the drug deal?

My personal theory: Abu-Lias knew it was a police sting (possibly when Abu-Lias was sitting laughing at a table in his restaurant with two guys whose backs are to the camera). Therefore, he wanted Malek to go but told him repeatedly that Malek was never to "touch the drugs". My only guess is that Abu-Lias wanted Omar (who was carrying the "drugs" - actually flour) to be arrested and jailed so that Omar couldn't date/marry Abu-Lias' daughter.

Thoughts?

That's what I thought too. If Malek had backed out, Omar might have suspected something and not gone. And Abu Elias wanted him out of the picture
