She's really not that cute, and can't act, and she always seems too conscientious about how cool she thinks she is. She could probably play a high school teenager, that's about how I describe the maturity level of her fan base. Go back to Washington. Leave the lead female roles to the pros.
Whaaat? She is hot as hell. Her acting was approriate for this movie. I would love to see her in something dramactic, but this was just an action/gore/comedy movie.
I agree with your assessment of Rose, but everyone has different tastes. Personally, I find her borederline ugly, but that's just me. As for acting ability - I'd say she's squarely average. Not horrible, but nothing special at all. To some guys a hot actress can do no wrong, so I think a little bit of that action is going on.
That being said, as much as I find her unattractive, I suppose I can understand how some could find her hot - she does have a "unique" look - just not a look that does it for me...
I thought she looked gorgeous in this film; I don't know what everyone's talking about. Her acting was adequate for the type of movie this was. She did a much better job than her counterpart Freddy.
"That being said, as much as I find her unattractive, I suppose I can understand how some could find her hot - she does have a "unique" look - just not a look that does it for me... "
She looks like Ava *beep* Gardner, for chrissakes! You don't have to be born in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s or even 1970s to know that Ava Gardner was hot for her time and had a very unique look. It's all about the eyes and the lips ... two things that can be easily overlooked in the days of tits and ass.
Up front, this post is a digression and the last on this subject, so here goes:
I suppose there's a bit of a resemblance to Ava Gardner. But then - I never saw the appeal with her either. And, for the record, I was born in the early 60's, so I'm pretty familiar with the type of look people found attractive in that generation (my dad was a huge Doris Day fan).
Her lips are definitely hot. But those eyes ... yikes. Yes, the eyes say a lot and that's the main feature about her that I find unattractive. She has that "Susan-Sarandon-bulging-googly-fish-eye" syndrome going on.
However, in the words of Dennis Miller, "but that's just my opinion - I could be wrong."
I actually think Rose is very underrated, she's really hot and a decent actress. I'll always love her for Jawbreaker. Plus she did very well in this film.
No one ever said she was an Oscar-caliber actress. She was actually decent in this. Very few actors in this film looked good from an acting standpoint! And she was GORGEOUS in this!
She looked great in the part, and some of her acting was really good (when she was dancing for the rapist and tears were falling, when she was marching out to war with her machine gun leg....)
Others (crying over her dying boyfriend) were cringe-worthy. And as the blonde in Death Proof, completely not believable.
Overall, sometimes good actress, sometimes not. But she looked very good.
I don't blame it all on her. In PLANET TERROR, I thought she was really good and outdid several of the other actors. She and Freddy Rodriguez both rose above the material they were given. Heck, even in DEATH PROOF, she was probably the female character that annoyed me the LEAST!
