Does everyone in california talk this way?

I live in the midwest and it seems like everything is way different here. I just wanted to know if everyone talks like this. How they say "i'm over it" "hooked up" and "mellow". And it seems like all they do is complain about drama!!

This is just one group of kids, not the entire population of California teens...you do know that, right?

Actually, yeah. Kind of. I live RIGHT on the border of Newport. And if you go to my school that's how people talk - "Haha ohmygod. NO!! But like, he is sooo hot! But then when I heard he like hooked up with her, I was like ewww." I'd say about 60-75% of the girls at my school talk like that.

reply

If this post is any indication, you're not part of that percentage. (Or are you?)

Do I talk like that? Well... I'll admit I use a lot of "likes" (maybe as much as them, or a little less) and the occasional "oh my god" but I HOPE I don't come off as spazzy and illiterate.

haha teenage girls and younger talk like that over here on the east coast
i'm from jersey
its definitely a teenage thing

reply

I live in Arizona and pretty much every kid here talks like that... granted almost everyone here is from Southern California. It's pretty much a west coast thing.

We Canadians generally don't talk like that beyond the age of 14.

I am from Australia and the teenagers over here talk like that. It's definitely an age related thing, not specific to any country!
