Song

Does anyone know the name of the song people are dancing to in the scene where Fanny is pouting because the guy won't dance with her? It is the one where Jane is dancing and having a good time and Fanny says she is not and it's her house.

Thanks.

The music they used in that scene was (I swear) the main theme from Riverdance. It made my blood boil because that music (and the steps they were performing) have nothing to do with the Regency period - AT ALL!

The music was certainly not the main theme from Riverdance.

Tunes would pass from musician to musician at the time and it is perfectly plausible that they would dance to an Irish jig such as this one, especially if there was a connection to Ireland in the family or friends. I believe a lot of research was done by the production team prior to the shoot, and consequent scoring of the music.

The music is available on the soundtrack CD and is titled 'Jane's Jig'. You can find it on iTunes.

Drowsy Maggie.

The song is not from Riverdance. It's a traditional tune called Drowsy Maggie. It has "nothing to do with Regency England", but being an Irish tune would have been appropriate for the country dance they were doing.
