Beautifully done..

I didn't know how great it was going to be. Olivia Williams, the cast, the pacing and the writing were all fantastic. So there.

This movie of Jane Austens later years was as good as her novels. She said her characters in her novels were her children. I just wish she could have married someone she loved but as she said :if you want a man like Fitzwilliam Darcy you have to make him up. Great movie and everyone in it was great

Not what I expected but a very good characterization written for Ms.Austen and played by Olivia. Jane was capable of wit and sarcasm (on paper) but I didn't think she would vocalize it as much as she did in this film. I'm not sure how realistic that was in the early 17th century but I certainly enjoyed hearing it.

17th?? You're two whole centuries out. That's some margin of error!

I liked it too. I was moved by the conflicted nature of Jane's character (as portrayed in this movie). We don't really know much about Jane Austen, so I see this movie as a work of fiction - but it was very well done.

I agree with you, twester. It seems some did not like this because of how Jane Austen was portrayed but, like you said, since we know so little about her life who really knows what she was like.

I thought this was a well written and acted drama. It was indeed a bit of a downer but that's OK- this is just one portayal of her life.
