This Movie is so f@#king offensive

I will not be seeing this movie, as should no one else.

I would like to Preface this by stating I’m a horror movie junkie, and consider myself pretty well versed in all things horror.

My problem with this movie is the premise- it’s based on the real life sexual assaults, murders and mutilations of hundreds of women in the border town of Juarez.

Some of the victims were only eleven or twelve years old.

The murders remain largely unsolved, partially due to lack of resources, partially due to the fact that no one really gives a damn about poor young women living in a Mexican border town.

The only reason I happen to know about it is because I did my final college paper on the murders and the possible socio-economic factors that contributed to them.

So imagine my surprise and dismay when walking through the video store last night, I happened to come across this dismal looking piece of crap on the shelf.

I would like to ask all of you to continue to urge people not to spend one dime on this movie- the general consensus seems to be that it’s pretty poorly made, no?
Well add to that fact that it is not an even an original premise.

It is exportation at it’s worse- capitalizing off of the VERY REAL death of hundreds.

Thanks for reading this.

I think it serves to at least bring the plights of all these assaulted women in and around Jaurez, to light. Not that it's even close to any real life documentary but I'm amazed at how many people don't have a clue that this slaughter of one kind or another is going on and is aimed at the female gender.

Are you serious? Most news when it does not pertain to the rich, the famous, or people of non-brown skin, is not report or is twisted by the media.

i don't understand...
people can't make movies on real tragedies? why would that offend you?

reply

Oh boo hoo. Does that mean you find Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre offensive as well?

It is DREADFUL!!! It is dreadful, it is lame, it is pointless, it is political.

**SPOILERS**

The female serial killer has a reason why she participates. The grave digger is a black guy and manual laborer. The fat white pervert who does most of the killing...goes on what seems like an endless lecture about some completely irrevelant $hit! There literally is NO story to this at all...in fact, I was baffled at how so many of the victims, as well as the killers, all seem to be American!

To make matters worse, the film employs cheap camera work and outside of lectures has NO dialogue of note! I wouldn't buy this film for $0.05!

LOL@'Exportation' - I sure you'll do really well in 'final college paper'.

*laughing*

In the same sentence, you neglected to mention "it's" and "worse". I was wondering if anyone else would notice the irony.

Haha.

A good point. Also needing consideration: "I sure you'll do really well..."

Please, people; if you're going to correct peoples' grammar, at least have the decency to practice it yourselves.

If you do not believe that movies about true murders should be made, you will miss out on ALOT of movies:

Silence of the Lambs
Casino
Goodfellas
Anatomy of a Murder
Rope
Monster
Call Northside 777
The Strangers
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
and lots of others.

Guess you are pretty choosey on your horror then, huh?

Last Movie: Transporter 3
Fav. Movies this year: The Dark Knight

I'm just interested on what murders was Silence of the Lambs based? Isn't it based on a fictional novel?

reply

Yes, the book is a work of fiction, but the murders that the book was also based on was:

Ed Gein
Robert Heidnick
Ted Bundy

Last Movie: Friday the 13th
Fav. Movies last year: The Dark Knight

Ummm ... only if you mean "based on" in such a ridiculously liberal sense that the victims in the book could be said to be based on:

Roseanne Barr
Camryn Manheim
Shelly Winters

Silly.

Have you ever seen Schindler's List? That was, in essence, capitalizing on massive genocide. It was obviously presented in a more eloquent manner, but it still isn't an original premise.
