Is there a possibility of a sequel?

As in subject. I liked Josh Brolin as Hex and Megan Fox as Leila. Unfortunately the movie has been a flop so another Hex movie is very unlikely. But why this can be happen, what should occur? Josh Brolin once told that he would do again Hex.

You what think about?

I hope not. Josh Brolin is above this trash, whereas Megan Fox fits right in.

The best you could hope for is a reboot. You'll have to wait a long time though. The audiences will have to be given time to forget about it, and the character is not exactly box-office gold, so I would say a long, long time.

Never say never my friend.........

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012)

Or Direct to DVD.You never know.

With it's low "profits" direct to DVD is the only way it will be made. Maybe Josh can do the next one with pop?

reply

Ghost Rider made some good money at the box office. Jonah Hex on the other hand...

reply

On the good side a sequel can't possibly get any worse. Unless Uwe Boll directs ofcourse.

reply

No comparison between Ghost Rider and Jonah Hex.
Hex was that bad, words escape me

Yeah.....Ghost Rider made money. Jonah Hex didn't.

Without make messes, with a new writer and a new director, "Jonah Hex" could reborn in a new movie, of course with Josh Brolin and, above all, maybe with a true horror and violent story, Jonah Hex style :)

Well, they did remake "The Hulk" a couple of years after the the first one bombed at the box office.

"Well, they did remake "The Hulk" a couple of years after the the first one bombed at the box office."

The original Hulk movie didn't really bomb, it just wasn't as big as Spider Man or X Men. According to IMDB it made over 200 million worldwide, and cost 113 million, and that's before TV, DVD, Cable, rentals etc. Jonah Hex flat out bombed.

Also, the Hulk is many many times more popular and well known than Jonah Hex. The average movie goer had never heard of Jonah Hex until the movie came out. The Hulk has generations of fans, and has been on T-Shirts, cartoons, video games, Underroos etc etc etc.

Comparing the Hulk to Jonah Hex is silly. One is extremely well known and popular the other is a cult character that even most comic books fans aren't that familiar with. I collected and traded comics when I was a kid and I saw ads for Jonah Hex books, but I never read them and never met anyone else who did either. All I know about the character is from the Justice League Unlimited cartoons.

There are no shortage of comic characters waiting for movie adaptations. Jonah had his chance and sad as it is I can't imagine he'll get another one.

None can say if a movie will go good on box office. Jonah Hex had a stellar cast but failed. Many cuts, many mistakes during the writing of the script, many collisions in production: so, decidedly a bad thing (not for me, however, cause IMO JH is a very good movie).

I think that, with a cast like that, the production had imagined a good attendance, so the character would be quite interesting.

One last thing: if there will be a sequel, or reboot, I want a soundtrack by Rise Against!

How can you say that? Even if you enjoyed it, how can you say "it's a very good movie"? The movie has generic 1D characters, Megan Fox is totally unnecessary, ridiculous CGI crap like him having two Gatling guns under his duster, Hex is this unstoppable badass until he comes up on the main villain and his right hand man.....etc etc etc.

The story itself is a mess. I get that different people like different things and that you can like a movie without it being "good" exactly, I love Night Patrol for instance but I would never call it a "very good movie".

I really don't get how can anyone call Jonah Hex "a very good movie"? It's a total mess and aside from Brolin's performance is pretty bad, the story is cookie cutter and the rest of the characters are generic.

I totally disagree about it being a "very good movie". I really don't get how you can say that.

reply

Ok, then I say I like JH but is not a good movie.

Hey read my post I created. It explains exactly why this movie flopped

reply

This movie made 37 million less than it cost to make it. Call me crazy, but I don't think Hollywood is in the business of losing money. You'd have better luck of seeing a sequel to Lady In The Water.

reply

Ghost Rider took in double its production budget world wide. Jonah Hex only made $10.9 million with a production budget of $47 million. Rather significant difference.

WHY? Marvel/Sony reboot spiderman so often and no one cares, well they do but they stil go to watch.

It should be rebooted now, Anson Mount wound be an awesome Hex.

reply

No, there is no chance at all that a sequel to this movie will be released in theaters because of the poor box office total that it got.

There are only 2 ways this would get a sequel now. And option 1 is if the sequel goes straight-to-dvd like Flicka 2 did. But if that happens, then they will get someone who is most likely not a big name actor to play Jonah Hex. Note: Passion Play seems to be the only movie I know about where a straight-to-dvd movie gets big name actors.

Option 2 is they have to remake this movie first and then make a sequel but if they remake this movie then Josh Brolin most likely won't be in it.

Also, a remake will probably not be released until 2014 at the assumed earliest.

reply

Maybe a Thomas Jane reboot but a sequel is doubtful given how bad this film was even though it had a star-studded cast.

reply

Unless it's DTDVD, I'd say that there's more chance of Hell opening an ice-rink...

Let's hope not.

reply

I hope so.. I loved this movie.. I keep it separated from the comic, and just enjoyed it as a Movie.. It is one of my Favourite movies and I do hope for another one..

reply

I enjoyed this film, but am too unfamiliar with Jonah Hex to say if there's anything else I'd like to see of the character. Unless Jonah Hex is somehow included in the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE film they have planned.
