How is Jennifer Lee Wiggins allowed to act in a movie?

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Usually I do not have high hopes for any Asylum stuff but this one was good enough for a 4 out of 10 (and this is a sensational achievement by Asylum). So congratulations, you are making progress, maybe your next rip-off, I mean movie, will be even better (don't bet on it). To me the biggest problem in this movie was Jennifer Lee Wiggins. She is pretty and all but she just can't act. She clearly needs to visit some acting classes, although the Asylum don't seem to care as they hire anybody. She is just not convincing enough. She was just so annoying that I wished that somebody would just quickly eat her or make her disappear... I don't want to be mean but...

You don't sound mean, just arrogant and actually stupid. Hey; where is your IMDB page? I'm sure you could dance circles around her acting talent???? Most people liked her in this; but wierdos like you probably watched it and took notes because no one wanted to go sit and watch a dvd with a negative loser like yourself. Must suck to be you. Oh and the Asylum slams.... really loving them... have any of your films been funded and made? I'd love to see them and put them side by side. Next time you don't like an actress who looks great on camera and is fun to watch because you are a hater, rent another movie! Be proactive! You can do it! You might like the next one better!!! :)

reply

Why am I a weirdo? Why does it suck to be me? Do you even know me? How do you come to all of these conclusions just by reading one paragraph?
Why should any of my films be funded or made? Did I ever mention that I was a film maker? You clearly suffer from some delusions...

reply

Because you took the time out of your life to write a negative message about a great actress that is likeable on screen. Now go find something constructive to do, Dronzilla... Which is a ridiculous name, by the way.

reply

Martinez, grow up. Just because he didn't like her performance doesn't mean he thinks she's a bad person. She puts herself up there on screen, good for her. Then it's up to the viewers to decides whether they like her performance or not. Some will like you, some won't like dronzilla. It's called an opinion, which everyone is entitled to both having and expressing. Stop sitting around perpetually miffed that anyone would dare to have a different opinion than yours.

reply

When are you posters going to understand that people who make these films and star in these films don't get pissed when people don't like them or critique them. It's the really mean spirited and arrogant comments that tick us off.

Say you didn't like her, and that she wasn't convincing enough. Your opinion. That's fine. I personally disagree.

But the nonsense about the Asylum hiring "anybody" or her needing to go back to acting class is just silly and cruel.

"There is no peace without freedom, no freedom without a fight."

Thanks for the definition of an 'opinion.' I wasn't aware of the meaning.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But NEGATIVE BROADCASTING something like "How is XXXX allowed to act in a movie?" is something that, while obvioulsy allowed on the IMDB board, seems quite juvenile.

And I'm not exactly 'sitting around perpetually miffed that anyone would dare to have a different opinion than (mine)" ... I thought the poster's choice of words was JUVENILE AND ARROGANT and I encouraged them to find something POSITIVE with their time.

Trashing people on IMDB boards is something I'll never be a fan of and if I like an actor and they are trashed, I'll defend them, thanks. People think 'Oh, I hated her' off a few scenes and come here and then do some real damage to an actor getting started; more than they know. Lots of industry people come onto these sights and it isn't right that some prick's idiotic, arrogant half-assed antics he wrote cause he watched the movie alone and was bored after might cause a director or casting director to NOT CAST someone. That dumbass just cost someone a potential job that might have been a bigger role. The IMDB board isn't just for 'random viewers' ... this is an INDUSTRY INSIDER website.

I really doubt a casting director is going to look up the opinions of someone named "dronzilla" or "Tin-Man" on the "I Am Omega" imdb message board before they decide whether or not to hire someone. Uwe Boll still finds work, for god's sake. I don't believe that anyone takes these ramblings that seriously.

I don't think dronzilla said anything that was particularly mean. "I wish the character had gotten eaten" is not a mean thing to say in the context of stating an opinion about a movie featuring flesh-eating zombies. To suggest that an actress has limited range and needs acting classes isn't that mean either...at least he didn't attack her as a human being, which you did to him. I personally have no bone to grind against Ms. Wiggins; she fulfilled the requirements of the role, nothing more and nothing less. The role was so limited in its scope and obligations that it's impossible to determine if she's a good actress or not. But I don't remember thinking she did a bad job... it wasn't a profound enough part for it to really make a difference. Scream, look terrified, run, shoot, and do it all again... Check.

It just strikes me as silly that anyone would get so pissed off about anyone else's opinion about someone's acting ability to reduce themselves to pointless name-calling. To say someone has a "ridiculous name", and to call them "arrogant" and "stupid" and "weirdo" means that you are obviously an immature person. You encourage them to say something positive, but you refuse to take the high road yourself.

i must side with director leigh, that he is correct in stating the actors/directors/writers etc., do not get upset by criticism, but the trolling on these boards, which is horrendous. there's too many people that get on here, and write mean, hateful commentary in an effort to make themselves somehow feel better for that moment in their life. and i forgot who wrote the comment about doubting industry gets on the boards. they DO. i know firsthand from actors, directors, casting offices, and agents that use IMDB all the time. i've even seen industry referring to the star meter LOL. there was a film not too long ago, where they stated not to submit any actor under a 20,000 rating! pretty silly, but nevertheless...

I don't think that advising her to take a few acting classes is mean. I think it would improve her skills as an actress and will benefit her future career. Perhaps it was a challenge. However, this was only my opinion and I do not expect anybody to listen to it.

It is interesting to see some people's reaction to the comments. I see this forum as a discussion and nothing else. I have hard time believing that some agent or producer or a studio will want to hire Jennifer but then the comment by 'dronzilla' will stop them. I don't believe they care much about these forums. Why would they? They can see her in action in a number of movies so why would they care about what I wrote...

Geoff and Director, a question for you if I may: if you don't like people writing bad stuff about the Asylum here why can't the Asylum make better movies ? I mean, of course, there are people that like the movies by Asylum but even Director Leigh wrote in one of his comments to Transmorphers: 'This is a low budget, B movie made for the same amount of money as indie films and films made in people's basements.'If you do not have the money to make a good movie why bother? If you can't do it right why do it at all? Does this not mean that you simply can't do a better job and admit it by making 'low budget, B movies'? You even said that you did not watch the Transmorphers, how encouraging is that to the audience if even the director does not want to see it...
I do not believe that the low budget or the lack of time is an excuse. If you are going into Sci-Fi genre then you must know that there are certain costs involved but why do it if you can't afford it? What about a movie Pi which was only made for 60000$ but it has an idea behind it and was very successful as well as a good movie. What about the Soviet Kin-Dza-Dza that has no budget at all(it is a Soviet movie after all) but it is brilliant. Again I am not a professional critic or filmmaker but I am somebody who always tries to be good at what I do and prepared to work hard and improve. I just don't see Asylum improving the quality of their product and this is something that I don't understand.... Can you please help me understand this?

I'm sorry, but that's a good point if that is indeed what was said.

its not mean and hurtful if tis true. she is a terrible actress and has no right to be in the entertainment industry. whats cruel is watching her attempt to perform which only ends up making everyone want to vomit. I would voluntarily eat my own vomit if it would remove her horrid image from my mind. HaHa put it this way f someone writes something about someone its called a criticism. Dont leave your house or open newspaper to read any critics about movies if your so sensitive.

would everyone like some cheese to go with their whine? yeah she has her moments in the film but all in all it could be worse.

Her terrible acting almost made me hate his movie. Luckily the other actors and the story are very good but do not make up for how pathetic she is. Everytime he talks or tries to act it ruins the entire movie. They should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a horrid woman to ruin an otherwise positive experience. this movie will never be popular or a cult classic thanks to her toilet paper grade acting skills that I would not bother to wipe myself with shes so bad.
