One of The WORST movie i've ever seen

Bad acting (esp. Jackie and I can't stand his Mandarin), simple and
poor plot, poor script, This movie failed completely either as a drama
or thriller. :(

Take your head out of your ass. This movie was awesome.

Kudos. I loved this movie.

"Stalingrad. . . The fall of Stalingrad was the end of Europe. There's been a cataclysm."

reply

im not sure if it's one of the WORST movie i've seen??

but i know there were many comical moments...i mean it was a totally serious show but what i meant was they were unintentionally funny. get the drift??

like the part where they were showing steelhead killing the two yakuza bosses - the stab in the abdomen, and the gunshot in the middle of the street - everyone laughed out loud (in a negative way) HAHA.

on second thought...yeah i think it might be the worst movie i've ever seen.

agreed!!!!

reply

oh yah btw daniei wu's white hair and black make up etc etc was VERY WACK!!!!

reply

Daniel Wu's character was so ridiculous. I was cringing at how stupid he looked and behaved.

reply

The movie is NOT that bad althoyugh not as good as most of Derek Yee's past movie.

This is am Emperor & Jackie Chan production and can easily tell Derek Yee simoply did this movie for a paycheck. He did not do much publicity for it.

Jackie Chan's acting is quite bad indeed. He cannot do drama yet.

WORST movie? I can name 500 movies that are worse than this because I rated this movie very high.
There was hardly any moments in the movie that I found funny, and I liked it that way, as I didnt except to laugh at all during a movie with such a plot.
It may have been a simple plot, but I think they worked deep into it, and every actor did their best to bring out the raw emotion of it.
Chan's acting was rather superb. Its nice to see him break out of his usual martial arts movie and become a character that can only rely on determination rather than skill. I think he did well in this aspect.
Daniel Wu astounded me in this. The last movie I saw him in was New Police Story, and his character was vastly different from Jie in which he played in this one. Although Wu's exterior may give off a tough-guy look, seeing him play a more cowardly character only allowed us to pity him more, and not to mention all the misfortune that fell upon him. His transformation in a drug-addicted rebellious and crazily dressed teen, only reflects more on the shock he recieved and how he felt like this was the only way to deal with it. And even though he has technically turned 'bad' you cant help but still feel bad for him due to the fact that he changed himself so much to deal with the trauma. I think his character was made to be pitied, and Wu acted fantastically as Jie down to his very last moment.

Don't worry. You might actually do some good before you die.

Worst movie??Bad acting? poor plot? your kidding right, how old are you 10? nah ,maybe 8.
i can tell you hundred movies that are worst than this,
your thread is one of the Worst i've ever seen,

--Watch this movie when you Grow Up Boy!
- or maybe its not your type of movies then i recommend you
to watch transformer or spiderman

reply

How often do you watch movies? like...1-10 movies per year?

Okay, name ten movies that are worst than this. 10 is enough.

I have watched a lot of low-budget movies, and most are better than this US$25 million crap. i still think this is one of the worst movie i've ever seen.

btw...you sounded like a kid who just turned a teen recently and you hate kids.

reply

What kind of low budget films? It would be unequal to compare them if they're of different genre. Were you hoping to see an all out ganster action film? Or a crippling and disturbing real life drama?
And it doesnt really matter how big of a budget a movie has. A good movie is a good movie regardless of how much was spent on it. And sometime with too much budget, you'll find a film can turn into a mindless mess of action and special effects and Im glad this movie didnt turn out like that. It had a good story, emotional acting, and a realistic setting.

And 10 movies that are worse than this? I think I can name over 100 if I tried.

Don't worry. You might actually do some good before you die.

reply

you have completely misunderstood, dude. shinjuku incident is NOT a low-budget movie, i said there are many low-budget movies that are even better than this.

The main reason i think this movie is bad is because of the storyline

reply

but i just want to say U ARE FUNNY!

reply

IMBd_user, I think it is you who completely misunderstood.

High budget does not equal to good result and ...? You seem to be the only one talking about budget. Care to share some "good" film with us?

BTW, not all films are plot driven. The plot and script of this film are fine. The pacing may be a bit uneven but I think the execution is on the mark. Also, Jackie Chan did a solid job and his Mandarin is prefectly fine. Daniel Wu is great, however.

You probably just try to get some attention. I feel generous today. So, here you go.

reply

ok boy.. i'll give you some movies that are worse..

how bout starting from
-the disaster movie?
- the hottie and the nottie?
-Night Train to Mundo Fine?
-The Final Sacrifice?
-Zombie Nation?
-Feel the Noise?
- some Uwe Boll movies??
-Alone in the dark?
-and i can tell you their are hundred of movies from my country where is lot worse..

Oh i know you havent watch some of those , so my advise to you boy is to Grow Up Mentally and keep living to be able to watch those..and btw yes am a teen and you sounded like an old man who hates teens.. :P

I think alot of you have gotten the wrong idea of this film just because it stars Jackie Chan, you are one of those similar people who didnt accept his film 'Crime Story' which he did in the early 90's, and that was serious, all of you lot just wanted to see some kung pow *beep* and get a few laughs.

Now im not bumming Jackie Chan even though i am a very good fan of his, however i can praise and critize his or anyone's films however i feel is neccessary, and what you blurted out was stupid. You dont know what a good film is!

Because of the backlash in the USofA of 'Crime Story' it took quite abit of guts to do another serious film nationwide. Things have changed and it was about time (if not very late) for him to do this kind of film, to the point where everyone and his fans can take him seriously as an ACTOR, he is an ACTOR who specilises in MARTIAL ARTS, doesnt mean he will do the same thing forever!

People here talk of the story as if it were downhill, well i can tell you it was above mediocre, cause it was simple, however, the things that happen in the film is wat makes a simple story interesting. There is an obvious theme to this, "Rise to Power to Corruption" to be perfectly honest, i didnt really see it coming because we are fed with the same BS of HK and US films for pure entertaining action, this film is quite solid in my books. Im not saying it was Excellent but mroe or less very good, and it was exicuted well. You do get attached and the pacing was fine, because we got a good sense of character development so it makes the audience get emotionally attached to it, its one of the few tricks in film to make it worthwhile and successful, not to forget to mention, a Good film.

If no one would ever watch Jackie Chan's HK films, then this film has to convince alot of you idiots that he is a good actor, because he's already shown much of it in many of his HK films, the very films alot of people has not seen! So i am not suprised by his ability here and its passable, worth a nomination but not a winner. Daniel Wu's character and acting finally convince me he is agood at what he does finally, he actually annoys me because he always has the same stupid egomaniac/ tough guy role in his films, and that he is finally taking a different approach (and looks) made me like him abit more form where i was standing, however once again, it was quite typical that he would eventually in the film turn to be a person that would suit him, but i didnt get that in the way if u carry on watching the film till the end.

And remember people, this is a DRAMA, so dont bloody expect any martial arts! they continously reported saying that there will be very little fighting, and to be honest, i very much like the fighting/action scenes because they were all necessary for the plot of the film and not some stupid unnecessary kicks, punch and gunshots, it is the real deal. The film is based on reality and thats what it delivers.

This is me praising the film but as relating to what i said earlier, its not perfect, the ending (not sure if there is an alternative) could hve been worked abit more, iw as left with wanting i tiny bit more, with all of that hell happening, you are expected to know what has happened to satisfy the audience, even though if its is or not a happy ending for Steelhead or others, but this film is definately something i would like to own and recommend to people who knows what FILM is!

Taken....? I agree with everything else.

It certainly isn't the worst film I've seen, it's probably in my top five or six films I've seen in the cinema this year, but I also thought the plot went downhill when Steelhead perfomed the hits.

reply

i think the poster just want to stand out cause the majority of the people who saw it like the movie. it a attempt for attention on a movie internet website which i find kind of sad.

reply

This movie sucked. The action sucked and was weak. Jackie Chan was weak. He couldn't fight and couldn't use his Kung Fu. And his romance with that girl was not believable. Nothing in this movie was believable. It was weak on every point.

I thought this movie was quite good. Not great but it surprised me. It kept my attention from start to finish. No way is this the worth movie ever made.

Jackie did a decent job acting too. He was never great but I didn't think he was bad.

reply

Well look at the movies he comments on in IMDB, and it's easy to see why he rants on this one. TS needs to watch more TV shows and movies to broaden his perspective.

Besides if you've never been through where the illegal immigrant grunts have, it's easy to dismiss a movie like this. So it's boring to most people who just want some classic Jackie Chan stunts. The man is what, 50? Give a human being (in this case, a Chinese) a break. They're not all born comic book superheroes. Look at Chuck Norris. Is he still kicking asses for you?

reply

I agree. This movie sucks, and I say this as a fan of Jackie. Its a joke that this movie has such a high rating.

reply

Jackie Chan's Mandarin was really poor, he was supposed to be from Northern China but he speaks in a Cantonese accent. He even speaks English in that same Cantonese style accent.

reply

OH MY....

SEVEN!

Are you joking. I'm LMAO.

This movie is one of the worst movies ever made.

Did anyone read the script and the screenplay? Seriously? The story just follows one ridiculous path after another after another.

Yeah...there's a cop who really is a good guy who doesn't care about a Chinese immigrant becoming the new local gang boss. They're good buddies...they hang out on the weekends and drink mohitos and smoke cubans....

WTF are people seeing?

Every part of this story is completely unbelievable. And every part is more obvious than the last...oh...the jilted one armed man...I wonder what he'll do, will he buddy up to the Yakuza Boss! I bet he will.

How about the part where Jackie Chan assinates the other guys FATHER! And then they are at the meeting with the officials and they are just hanging out. I'm sorry...the guy who killed me FATHER is not just hanging around like nothing happened. Unbelievable BS.

And of course...the Cop doesn't care that Jackie Chan is a rogue assassin in Japan just knocking off Yakuza bosses willy nilly.

Wait...Wait...Don't tell me Jackie dies in the same sewer where he saved the cop! Oh what sweet "irony" I'm sure that's what the movie makers were going for.

If this is the quality of film we can expect out of the next world super power...God help the entertainment industry.
