I really loved this movie and i can't figure out what it was exactly that is liked about it. I was just wondering, are there any movies out there that are similar to this? This movie made me think about Ex-drummer alot. Maybe it's because it has the same language or is about the same kind of lower class people, i don't know why. Anyway, are there movies with the similar look and feel ?

Lower class English family with a son that has a controversial carreer: Billy Elliot
Kid growing up in a tough place, has to go to boarding school: Ciske de Rat (dutch)

Those two are the first I thought of when looking for resemblance with "The Misfortunates", other suggestions are welcome!

It reminded me of Ex-drummer as well.
Try to read the books, especially Ex-drummer. It is even better while reading it. Herman Brusselmans has a very special way to write. And I don't like to read.
