The film dies when Severine does

I'm all for Bond movies catching me by surprise … and Severine's death certainly was a surprise. But, I think the film would have been better off had she lived. She was an interesting character and keeping her alive could have taken the film in some inspired directions. Instead, she dies and we're stuck with villain Silva who while initially compelling becomes duller and duller as his elaborate but tiresome scheme to exact revenge on M gets pushed to the film's forefront.

casino royale dies when Le Chiffre dies sorry Skyfall is the best

reply

Yeah, but Le Chiffre dies later in the film whereas Severine dies sooner. Therefore, for me anyway, since Casino rocks for a longer period of its running time than Skyfall I would say Casino is the better film.

reply

I can't even remember who Severine is. By the way, Severine is not a real name given to a human being in any language. Fuck, this movie is so pretentious.

reply

For me it died when M died... She didn't deserve that.

I don't even remember a character named Severine but I certainly remember Le Chiffre. Casino Royale was the only decent Bond film of the Craig era IMO. Skyfall was empty, convoluted spectacle with a silly, anticlimactic ending.

i have the same feeling.
the intro + Macau sequence was amazing. the colours and Severine smokin up a storm had the retro 007 look i love.

once she got shot, and Silva captured the movie spirals out of control.
the over-the-top-get-captured fiasco is BS, including the stupid train.. and the ending @ Skyfall was just stupid.
