makes no sense to have M actually at the hide out house

She is not a field agent so she is practically useless. Pretend that she is there and the whole plan still works while she remains safe.

Well, this was Judi Dench's last Bond movie, maybe they wanted to give her an exciting send-off.

Bond believes that she's only safe with him against Silva's army of mercenaries, because he's James Bond. If he were any other man the whole plan would have been stupid, not to mention suicidal.

That's the overall theme of this 50th Anniversary Bond movie, IMHO.

An opinion is not offensive just because you do not agree with it.

I am not a fan of Skyfall (liked the first half when Silva showed up. :( )

With this said I will defend this move. Silva was always one step ahead of MI6 and he wanted to be out in front for once. Bond realized that Silva had access to MI6 communication. If he pretended she was there when she was someplace else who would she be with? Could they be trusted to not use any communication? Bond did not believe, and in my opinion rightfully so, they could.

Maybe Silva would realize that M wasn't there? What they could of done was lure him into a Military base and Silva would have little chance, although there would be a lot more deaths etc. Maybe it was M, simply staring death in the face, and couldn't care less as long as Silva was stopped.

The name's Bond, James Bond.

Plus, you have to remember that Bond and M basically have a mother/son relationship.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.
