Goshintai or the holy body in the shrine is a mirror, not a sword. This shows how little the director understands about Yasukuni shrine. Also, it should be mentioned that the priest of the shrine had declined his permission to shoot, yet the director went ahead to shoot regardless of his request.

Having opinions is one thing, but blatantly misinforming on a documentary style film is simply malicious. If you're really curious about the whole Yasukuni controversy, it is advised to go for different source than this film.

Unfortunately most of the good analyses of Yasukuni are academic in nature. Its own materials are right-wing, and the English news articles which always begin "home to 12 Class A War Criminals" are always written with a Korean/Chinese perspective. This movie should be praised for its attempt to be unbiased, even if it is very poorly directed. I hope a more centrist Japanese person makes a movie about it soon.
