not again...

A few years ago I started watching arrested development, and it quickly became my favorite show. I knew going in it had already been canceled tho. Still it was disappointing when I finished season 3 and had no more new episodes to watch. I stumble across party down on netflix and it's amazing. Definitely ranks up there with arrested development, and there aren't too many shows that even come close to that level. Just finished season 2, and of course when I go to find out when season 3 comes out, I learn it's already been canceled. Why is it that only the bad shows get to stay on the air? Oh wait I know, it's because the majority of america are idiots and would like to watch the big bang theory or two and a half men.

well, it got cancelled because the lead actor got a role on Parks and Rec, which is a good show too, imo.

reply

Yeah, that's not why it was cancelled.

I just want my kids back.

reply

Yep okay, it WAS going to get cancelled anyway, but when Adam Scott took the Park&Rec's role there was still some chances the show would be back.

Adam Scott did not kill the show's chances of coming back. Even before he took the role on Parks and Rec, there was zero chance of Party Down coming back. It's ratings were absolutely beyond awful, plus a new guy took over Starz. This new guy had not been part of the development of Party Down for Starz so he had no attachment to it, unlike the previous guy.

But if you want some concrete evidence - when Adam Scott was offered the Parks and Rec role he spoke to Starz and told them that he would love to do it but if they wanted him to remain on Party Down he was willing to stick around and that would be his first priority. They told him "have fun on Parks and Recreation." You can't get a clearer message than that, they had no plans on bringing Party Down back.
