Actually, it didn't really parody anything the way a "great parody" is meant to. An effective parody of 300 would have taken the theme of the original; a thinly disguised attack on religious fundamentalism (Islam, in particular)and subverted it. All Meet The Spartans did was take one of the most recognisable films of the time and sprinkle a load of cheap dick jokes and topical pop culture references. The later of which serve to illustrate how little faith the film-makers have their audience's intelligence by having them sign-posted along the way (for example having Ken Davitan's appearance as Xerxes marked by the narrator saying that he "looked like that guy from _Borat_").
Even the gay jokes were redundant, that box already being ticked by the original with "Someone should watch your back/ Not now, I'm a little busy".

I think they both sucked--using whatever new techno crap they're using to achieve abs, action, whatever. People need to read up on the Spartans--why do people not manage to throw in some accuracy in historical dramas is beyond me. I'll pick the spoof over the one trying to tell a tale.

Well in defense of 300 the movie wasn't meant to be accurate at all. It was based on the comic book, not the actual events (that served more as an "inspiration").

I mean both movies were bad, but at least Meet the Spartans didn't take themselves seriously.

they were both stupid, and meet the spartans wasn't trying to be a great movie, like 300 was. 300 was like a 2 hour top gun volleyball scene. i mean, why develop any characters when you can have slow-motion half hour fight scenes? I mean anyone who says 300 was the best movie in 2007 (better than no country for old men, there will be blood, juno, michael clayton) doesn't really know what they're talking about.

Meet The Spartans is funny, if you're 13 years old. 300 was watchable, Meet The Spartans isn't.

Watching this, Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, etc. is literally like driving through hell in a slow moving vehicle you can't steer, Jurassic Park style. Please stop wasting money making/watching this crap.

It was better than 300 I agree. It was a funny spoof. 300 was an empty, pointless, historically inaccurate film, that had so much potential. There was no liitle to no dialogue, no character development, and no good fight scenes. The movies tries to hide behind Cgi and a lesbian orgy, because thats all it is.

Also, 300 is immense. I seriously do not understand how people can criticize a film for not being something it isn't supposed to be; 300 is based on a comic, which was a fantasy take on the actual events that occurred in Thermopylae in 480-ish BCE.

Oh please No Country For Old Men was pathetic. I slept half through the movie. Atleast i didn't sleep when i watched 300. I am not saying 300 was the best movie of 2007. But it was one of the.

IMO even Dan In Real Life(2007) was better than no country for old men.
