Second Series Commentary

Even though this board is dead, some people might still be checking up on it.

The new series has started with the stick fighting in Africa. Anybody got any thoughts on it?

Personally I thought it showed the first account of black rascism I've ever seen on television. The tribesmen just weren't going to let the white guys win, I thought that was a bit shameful, but other than that the new guys look like they could be a good mix, and so far the actual games they've had to take part in are just as vicious as the last series, so it looks promising.

It does indeed look promising, there seems to be a lot of egos and whiners in this series, but then again thats how I felt it was with the original before it really got going

Looking forward to the wrestling.

Last name? I'd rather not say

I'd have to disagree with your comparisons to series 1s competitors.

Wole = Brad (Brad was clearly the strongest last time but he also has the same must win/gotta prove himself to his family attitude)

Murray = Rajko (not that similar but they both have the "hippy" thing)

Ed = Richard (no brainer)

Joey = Jason

JJ = Mark

Jarvis =/= Corey (the only one who doesn't match last times' forumla)

I can't say I like them all as much as last time but that could just be nostalgia and to be fair last years bunch really were incredibly well chosen, they were all really likeable.

However I can't help but share the rest of the teams increasing annoyance with Wole. Somehow Jason and Brad managed to pull off the 'must win at all costs' thing and remain likeable but its really starting to grind with Wole. I'm also sick of hearing about his lack of technique. He uses brute force in everything - we get it.

I think that Jarvis could probably turn out to be more interesting than Corey aswell. I wouldn't replace Corey in the first series as it wouldn't be the same if you changed any of them but really he was just a continuation of Richard and Richard could do the 'weak posh one who relies on his technique and cunning when 80% of the challenges rely on bute force' thing better. Jarvis seems like more of a character unto himself.

As for the switch from Richard Hammond to Ralf Little as commentator, at first it was weird but now I just don't notice. Which is always good in a commentry.

I'm not used to the new narrator yet, it feels slightly odd without Hammond getting excited all the time.
My favourite athelete at the moment out of the bunch is Murray just because of his attitude, he's got a good mindset and gets along well with locals so it all looks good.

They've got mountain running tonight which should give the lighter guys a good chance, since Wole' and Jarvis are both heavier than 200lbs their going to struggle to complete the course just through carrying too much weight. If I had to put money on who would win tonight I'd probably say Ed, any other takers?

Well tonight I'm watching Spooks but when I find out who wins on Wednesday I'm guessing it could be JJ (the football guy).

Its a bit of a shot in the dark but when you think about it his is the sport which gets him to spend the most time on his feet.
I wouldn't be so sure about Ed myself. I've seen someone outstrip someone else a third their weight by miles.

On the other hand, if I had to put money on who could keep a 25kg weight on their back for the most amount of time (and that IS part of the challenge) then I'd put my money on Wole.

Mmm, asperger sauce. Anyway, thought I'd pop back as the Kushti wrestling was insane, best episode so far easily. Loved the cribs scene though was gutted by murray being injured. Ed won and is now on 3, only Wole' and JJ can compete. The finale' looks like it's going epic.
