One of the biggest miscarriage of justice I've ever witnessed.

What a stupid misogynist judge. With all the witnesses to this travesty, I hope no one re-elects him to his seat again.

I can understand your anger and I see where you're coming from, but I don't think that judge was misogynistic -- he seemed genuinely horrified by what the family endured and remorseful about the sentence he had to pass down. But I think that's just it: I think that, by the letter of Oregon state law, that sentence was probably what he HAD to deliver, based on what Wendy and her son had already confessed to doing (I believe they can appeal, right?). A tragedy for everyone involved...

Didn't the police refuse to investigate? Did anyone do any tests to evaluate her after her head was slammed into every wall in the house. Child abuse, animal abuse...he should have been behind bars, and this wouldn't have happened. Total negligence all around. On the other thread you can e-mail the governor, I think it's worth everyone's time, to bring a family that's suffered enough, together.

reply

Agreed -- if he had been arrested when he should have been (years earlier), this could all have been prevented. As far as the police refusing to investigate, though, the impression I got was that they were called to the house, but then didn't intervene further, because Wendy was forced to send them away and downplay the problem under Aaron's watchful eye (remember the story that she and her son told about the cops coming by, but they couldn't say or do anything because they were being seen by Aaron's surveillance camera while they were outside? Terrifying). I think that the cops could definitely have pressed further, but -- sadly -- they probably encounter domestic disturbance cases so often that they don't always "interfere" when it is indeed necessary.

Speaking of animal abuse...that stuff with him and the deer was really disturbing.

reply

And what he did to their dogs. I mean who shoots a baby deer, and then kick it in the head> a sociopath.

Who sees this sociopathic behavior, allows themselves to get treated like a punching bag for twenty years...AND DOESN'T TAKE HER KIDS AND LEAVE?!?

She is as much to blame for what happened as he was. Anyone in their right mind gets hit once, maybe twice, by their spouse and leaves. Only a moron stays FOR TWENTY YEARS until somebody gets killed, maybe her and her kids.

........the idiotic cock-eyed flum-dummery!

I just got done watching this about an hour ago and came here to see what, if anything, people were saying about it. I missed the first 20 minutes or so but i was under the impression that they pleaded guilty to avoid a trial. If they went to trial they could have gotten 25 year (life). Wendy said that she didnt want to risk her sons life over the kindness/generosity of others, meaning a not guilty verdict at trial. So if she and Randy pleaded guilty the judge had no choice but to give her 10 years. It would have been part of the plea bargain with the DA.
like i said i missed the first 20 minutes so I might have missed something.

I'm supposed to put something clever here.

It's a shame but the judge gave the minimum sentence allowed by law. If she had been smart and waited for him to attack her and then shoot him she could have gotten a self defense plea. She also shouldn't have had the son help. The problem with women is they marry these nut cases and they can't see them for who they really are because they aren't smart enough. Get to know men before you marry them don't marry at 17. She to blame too for her stupidity. You woman should learn from this but you won't.

Really? Is that the problem with women? Really? This statement, along with another in your post, speaks volumes about what kind of person you are. Congratulations also for blaming the victim. That takes all sorts of manliness to accomplish.

It is really easy to judge when you've never been in that situation, and you cannot even imagine being in her shoes. You cannot be in her situation, nor can you actually comprehend her situation, and you certainly could not have any sort of empathic understanding. If you took the time to educate yourself, you might someday acquire an educated opinion, but in the meantime, you are woefully ignorant and it shows. It really is best for everyone if you would kindly STFU.

WHat I would like to know why the defense lawyers couldnt get a better deal for their clients on this? I wish the doc went into detail on this. I am halfway through the doc, and surfing the web at the same time for details. I think the documentary is made in a boring manner. The music is intrusive. I think this doc could have been edited tighter and then use some of the time saved on showing why the defense team couldn't come up with a better deal? Why didn't the DA "overlook" the case and give them a better deal, even if her defense attorneys were not good? You see much worse criminals walk away with much bettter deals even if they do not go to trial.
