Not propaganda and not a horrible person

I highly recommend the book "Wild Swans -- Three Daughters of China" a very readable and fascinating story of China including the Long March, Mao's rise to power, and the Cultural Revolution. How can this movie be propaganda it didn't even mention Tianamen Square which BTW was TRUE.

I think the horrible selfish person in this movie was Ben. All he cared about was his own next trip to China and because it was still the Iron Curtain he wasn't going to be able to go AT ALL without working it out through his dance company. I lived in Korea 1984-1987 and a Westerner could not get in China hardly at all like you can today. Hong Kong was still a British colony you could sure go there and take a very structured bus trip across to Red China and hear their propaganda about how well collective farming worked.
