Loved it!

I saw the film at TIFF yesterday and it was FANTASTIC. The story was amazing and the dancing was so beautiful -it was a real treat! The audience gave a standing ovation to the director, Chi and Li at the end of the film. Li's story really is inspirational. I hope Chi Cao would be invited to perform in Toronto soon -I'm sure he has many fans here already!

I saw it a few hours ago and agree... I loved it too! So graceful and beautiful and it wasn't too Hollywood-ised. It captured the essense of Li's struggle

Huge fan of Beresford. And I hope the movie does the book and his story justice. Sounds like it. Great to hear!

I loved it too...I was about 2/3 of the way through the book when I watched it, and wasn't sure if I'd like it (as so often, they change things around in the movie), but I did! I'm so proud that it's a well-made Aussie film ...they don't come around that often.

Just saw it this evening with my husband. The cinema was completely full, something I haven't seen for a long long time.

It is a really beautifully made drama with the extra bonus of some amazing ballet scenes. We were totally absorbed by the film and I was particularly impressed by the parts showing the life of the character's family in China. Extremely enjoyable!

I saw it today and loved it too - fabulous dancing over and above the touching story of Li defecting to the USA from China.

Especially enjoyed the Houston locations and characters, like Ben Stevenson.

8.5/10
