North Carolina Valley Girl???

Since when did any racer from NC have a Valley Girl accent? No safety equipment? Cars racing at 30 mph? Dysfunctional relationships abound. I don't get it. Nothing like real racing. It's like a bad Beverly Hills 90210 episode (except 90210 was more family oriented) with very SLOW race cars. Oh, and Kylie was pretty slutty. It did have a lot of pretty colors in it though. Any real race fans out there?

I didn't understand how none of them (except the aunt on occasions) had southern accents. Especially growing up in North Carolina, deep in the heart of racing country.

I can tell you this, in no movie or tv show that I can recall has an NC accent ever been correct. I don't know what it is with the movie industry, but they just cannot seem to get the accent. They either make it a Georgia or Deep South accent. Truth is there are about three regional accents in NC, all with different colloquisms and each region being settled from differing countries, making it quite difficult to master any one of them.

The Andy Griffith show had real NC accents. Didn't Andy live there?

You are correct, two of the original cast members were Carolinians, but I was refering to people attempting to mimic the accent who aren't actually from here. Andy does still live here, btw.
