For the people watching it..

Anyone think it's good? I do. Acting is really good too.

I am a sucker for most abc family movies, but this one is actually really good. the acting is well done which is not usually the case for these types of movies. definitely enjoyable

reply

Well, I haven't changed the channel yet. It's a decent flick.

reply

Okay the ending blew.

LMFAO could not agree more. It was all going well until like, the last fifteen minutes, and then it was kind of just like, 'Wait, what the hell?'

I thought the movie failed because of cuts of critical scenes, in an extended version the movie probably would have done better. It seemed like it was cut down script-wise from a mini-series.

Michelle Trachtenberg had to carry the movie, she did and was both her trademark funny and vulnerable. The other actors particularly Billy Campbell were good as well. But the whole point of the movie was not winning the race, or some hot guy, but reconciling with her father and that was not accomplished enough IMHO.

IMHO the setup was for her character to realize she'd made mistakes along the lines of her father, with people around her (particularly her friend), and had followed the same path as her father (using celebrity/fame to stop the hurt, or at least try to stop the hurt).

I expected her to win the race, and when she'd won the race and had all the attention, realize she was all alone, emotionally, by acting like a jackass just as her father had done, and so forgive him right at that moment.

Of course she had to be a rookie, and not listen to her pit chief who knew better. Of course she had to choose the wrong guy, who she knew was the wrong guy, and who she predicted (accurately, as it turned out) would get bored with her as soon as he'd won her. Who would not provide the emotional support she'd wanted and needed. Of course she had to wreck the relationship with her friend, who finally called her on her habit of exploiting him and his feelings to get friendship and emotional support and how she simply stood by while he got fired.

The elementary school sub-plot went nowhere and was IMHO wasted. So too with the sub-plot of the owner first wanting to capitalize on the Kylie-Kid relationship, then wanting to kill it (because the focus group of women hated the Kid with Kylie). I kept waiting for the owner to tell the Kid to end it with Kylie. Or for publicity and gossip about the Kylie-Kidd relationship to show up on screen. Or the call with the Kid's Agent wanting to talk to Kylie to lead to fame and adulation that went to her head.

And I never got "why" Kylie forgives her Dad. The actors really had to carry this one.

Perfect explanation.

It seemed like, at the ending especially, everything was just thrown in.
Kylie forgives her dad, suddenly decides she wants Jake, who randomly forgives her after being so stupid, and Kid falls off the screen.

There were so many ways this could have gone..

I liked it, the movie was well done. The ending didn t bothered me. She finally decided thet the ideal guy for her was Jake, but they should developed more the reconciliation between her and her father.
