Mary in JP's contest

Does anyone else think that her dancing was not very impressive in this scene? She had some nice leg lifts and one leap, but most of it was bouncy boy band-like dance moves, which would not impress a dance school. And she gets a full ride? I could believe she got an audition, but that is pretty ridiculous.
