Had to be one of the girls returning as a repeat offender. Though I have no idea which one.

reply

It implied that there was a repeat offender who is back in the prison. I just don't know who.

Obvious Spoilers

They won the race, but was disqualified because Vanessa waited too long to take the baton. It is revealed the Vanessa graduates from high school and goes to a college, where she is a member of the track team.

The final scene end with Baker and Stack noticing someone familiar coming back into jail.

Now that I think about it, what if it is all the other 3. I mean they didn't tell us anything about them.

Then again, Carmen wanted to make life better for her daughter, so I dont think she would want to come back there. None of them really wanted to be back in there.

reply

i really couldnt see anyone of them back there.

it could have been lisa (or at least i think that was her name), the girl that ran for vanessa to start with.

reply

i kinda had a feeling that it was denise

I think it was Vanessa in the end. I know she went on to college but that does not mean she could not come back. I think that is why they were so disappointed.

tonya?

I liked the ending. It showed that no matter how hard people may work to stay on the straight and narrow, sometimes the odds are against them and they keep getting into trouble.

I think any of the track team girls, including Denise and the girl who got out early, could have made it back in. No matter how much they had to live for.

I think that the ending showed that no matter how hard you try to help and love someone;there will always be someone that falls off the wagon and comes back. It didn't necessarily have to be one of the runners;just another one of the inmates that didn't have anything to look forward to in life.

reply

I agree with StyleStar. It could have been any number of inmates and not just the ones that ran. Remember they would know a lot of inmates and would be disappointed if some of them returned. So it might not have been a runner but someone they had confidence in that disappointed them.

reply

the director says it's not vanessa... but could be any of the other ones. doesn't matter cause he's making his point that they get caught up in a vicious cylce.

According to the director, it's not Vanessa.

It's probably the black girl that was high all the time

reply

My friend and I just watched this movie and we actually think that there is no one on the bench. He may be talking to the female officer rather than a returning inmate.

reply

I took it to be just that the last scene illustrated the endless repetition of the work they face in there, same faces over and again, but whether it was one of the runners or not was immaterial.

reply

At first I took it that it was one of the runners(maybe Vanessa since she was the main character) and i smh like you can't be serious. LOL

But it can go both ways now that i think about it and i agree with svenrufus and believe maybe it was another familiar face Vanessa type showin up again and maybe they could also inspire that girl the same way he did the other girls.
