Great movie! It definitely opened up another perspective for me, being an Indian. I can now understand how Pakistanis must have felt after watching the anti-Pak movies that Bollywood used to churn out post-Kargil. Peace guys!

Coming to the subject.. What was up with Shaan's accent? His character, having lived in Pakistan, comes to the US and gets a clipped UK mixed with US accent? Vice versa with Iman Ali. I was cringing every time I heard the lead actors talk!

it was pretty decent if you ask me. I remember me having a similar accent when i first went to u.s for studies. In fact, now that i think of it, it added to the realism. He didnt have an overly done american accent and neither too FOBish and it made complete sense because he is new here in u.s and is learning the american accent.

Indians are usually so self-absorbed that they don't realise that many Pakistani speak with the accent which Shaan's character Mansoor has. Its not very hard for us coz Urdu itself isn't quite the sing along language most Indians speak [is that Hindi? Mumbaiyya?]. You won't hear the ayee-emm-fraam-Indeea blah accent from the educated Pakistani. We're different.

Yes Punditz, I definitely never spoke English in that annoying sing-along style of those butt-gyrating bollywood numbers. Its impossible for Indians to however change their accents because they speak Hinglish so melodiously!

I know enough pakistanis and their accents to form a different opinion.

I don't know why you are turning this into a comparison between Indian and Pakistani movies, and more so mocking them.

If all upper middle-class/ elite Pakistani men speak English in this accent, then it's justified, but still intriguing.

If being different is not a compliment, I dont know what it is. I don't speak Indlish and frankly I think the way Indians speak English is an insult to the language.

Yeah sorry guys he's being un-necessarily rude( coming from a Pakistani). Hope you guys dont project that all Pakistani's think along the same lines.

that is because shaan the lead actor was university educated in the US while schools in Pakistan still teach British English. Therefore it is not unusual for our generation to sport an accent that is a curious mix of our basic education that continues to be in British English and the influence of Hollywood and all things American.
