the load count thing is such BS

I love how one week VP is behind by like 30 or 40 in the load count then two eps later they are only behind by 2 or 3.

Its such a joke how the load count even matters.

Its how much money you make, if you could have one deal for 5 loads with half a million bucks and another for 10 loads but only worth 100k

This season IMO is the one this show has really jumped the shark

The load count is a contrived contest common to all of Thom Beers masterpieces.. he does this to create more drama and to keep what viewers there are interested... the contest is as legit as a professional Wrestling match, and the outcome is probably determined in the beginning and the Season scripted around it...

These contest do not exist in "Real" life and you are right, all that matters to "real" Ice Road Truckers.. or anybody for that matter.. is how much money they make.

The show jumped the shark with the first promo.

I noticed the sudden jump in load count for Hughie as well, I also noticed how VP Express is much larger then Polar when they show the load counts.

Wasn't it in season three or four where Hugh won the "championship" by apparently doing nothing but haul feces from oil rig to town all winter long?

The "dash for the cash" is pure bs to give the show some drama. There is no way any real trucking company would turn these runs into contests for the haulers. That would make the job more deadly than it actually is.No one on this show actually wins anything.Except a big payday from the production company and the "we dumped History for fake reality" channel.
