Ice Road Folls

I've been trucking for over 20 year in the northern part of the states. Granted that's a far deifferent kind of running than what they're doing, but at least the last two seasons I'd say that what I've been seeing on here can be broken down to three words....Dangerous, Reckless, and Foolish. They go back on roads empty when they were barely able to make it to their destinations when full....Why? Because even though they know they have about a 25% chance of making it in these blizzard conditions through roads that aren't being maintained....They need to get back to move freight.....Of course risking your life while getting stuck and running your fuel down in extreme temperatures really doesn't make much money, but push on anyway instead of waiting for it to pass over.

The first season they went on established ice roads that were maintained and even shut down when the weather became too sever. With some of these drivers down here even that's the only way to stop their foolishness. Down here I drive mostly high profile reffer trucks. When they start trying to get out from under me there's usually other vehicles on the road so I have far more than myself to worry about...Could be you and your family. Even so I would never take some of the extreme foolish risks these drivers have been taking.....And I wonder if they weren't part of this show if they would either? I really doubt it. I remember trying to watch that foolish show where they took some of these drivers to South America on some extremely dangerous roads. One of the drivers flat out said on camera...."I'm out of here...Don't ever call me again". Apparently not many of them are that smart....

The first couple seasons were interesting, but now like someone else mentioned...It's become just another foolish reality show with not much reality left....

You're right, initially this show was set on the actual ice roads that are carefully controlled by the authorities.

Recent seasons appear to be nowhere near there. Plus the constant speeding and drifting and bobtailing would not happen in real life.
