Actors + fakery?

I'm sorry, but that sequence with the sleeping young man (Magnus?) and when he wakes up and walks into the recreated dream with grass, snow, old woman, etc. seemed silly to me. I think Magnus must have been in on it, no one would wake up from sleep only to find there room had been turned into a surreal dreamscape, and then walk around for a few minutes like everything's normal and then go back to sleep. It felt staged IMO. I'm not saying the whole show is fakery -- I don't believe that -- but just that parts of it are.

"I'm not saying the whole show is fakery"

I am, this show is clearly fake any one who believes any of it is as gullible as a five year old.

For me, the point of this show is much like attending an illusionist/magic act - you know that it's not real, but it still seems amazing and moreover, it's fun.

I am enjoying the show.

reply

well thats just stupid, for instance I didn't watch the entire thing because I was just so sickened about it. But the twins part and the part on the train is really just theres no point in watching since ANYONE can do it, just hire an actor and your set.

reply

he doesn't use actors he mainly guesses by looking at them.

reply

LOL, ahh the gulliblity of some is astounding.

reply

Oh, im gollible i actually do some of this stuff for a living.

And the stupidity of people like you, who base their 'facts' on dumb opinions.
The guy is real, you just can't comprehend this inside of your closed mind.

reply

it may not be fake, maybe there is something to it, not that he can control minds, but just figuring out how the mind works a little. we only see the ones that work on the show, we never see the ones that don't. he could be getting like a 10% hit rate, we don't know

reply

Jon is right.
It's not real, wait maybe it is...
You all believe it's real, that proves Darren Brown has mind control over all of you.

reply

Can some of you idiots actually pull up some proof that it's 'fake'? Besides your moronic ego that is.

No. Didn't think so.

If you have ever studied psychology there ARE subtle ways to get a person to behave the way you want them to, without being very obvious about it. For example, if you are going to see a movie and you want your friend to drive, you would ask "So should I drive or do you think it would be easier if you did?" most likely they will decide to drive, because you are giving them the idea that it is easier, AND if you put the idea of them driving last in a list of options, it is the one most likely to stick in their memory. I, of course, can't explain how Derren Brown does EVERYTHING in the show, but if you rewatch the episodes after you know what is coming, you can DEFINITELY find things he is saying/doing to lead to the other persons action.

As for the dream sequence, I don't think it was so much that the guy who was sleeping got up and walked around and thought it was normal, I believe it was that Derren Brown knew SO WELL what his dream was going to be that he recreated it in reality and the person thought he was still IN the dream, hence why he was confused about his socks being muddy at the end.

Anyway, I think we can mostly agree that whether or not what he does is REAL it is very ENTERTAINING!
