The chicken or the egg sir?

How much does one need to evolve if our minds are capable of tapping into the minds of others and manipulating them? Or is this the other side of the coin, that this show is "fake" and we must "evolve" from entertaining ourselves? The smarter we get, the more able we will be to get into other people's minds as we become more aware of our own.

It's like saying we need bigger bombs because our enemies can blow us up. It goes both ways.
