If a CM live-action movie was made (GOD forbid!)...

how would it be done?

It would be a raunchy R-rated comedy, incorporating a lot of the same goofy humor and esoteric pop culture references. Think the unholy bastard child of Tron and Clerks.

who would you cast?

*Dave - Devon Sawa
*Jerry - Hal Sparks
*Clare - Scout Compton-Taylor or Kim Director
*Mary - TBA
*Black Steve - TBA
*Todd - Jonah Hill or Ethan Supplee
*Clarence - Jonah Blechman (Nico from Anothery Gay Movie; watch the movie, you'll know why I cast him and why I regret seeing AGM)
*Mr. Larrity - Ernest Borgnine
*Dean - John Cena
*Benny - any Asian actress, between the age of 18 and 25, who is anywhere from 4'8" to 5'3

who'd distribute it, or would it be an indie film?

Do it indie while being produced by G4 (or their "new film division"?) and get it distributed by a major studio.

would it be DTV, made-for-TV, limited theatrical, wide theatrical?

Limited theatrical, then leap to wide.

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!

I HAVE THE PERFECT FREAKIN PLOT FOR A POSSIBLE LIVE-ACTION CODE MONKEYS MOVIE!!!!

The plot is this:

[STARTING IN THE 8-BIT CODE MONKEYS WORLD]
Larrity has won the video game rights to Hellraiser from Clive Barker in a high-stakes poker game (as Larrity claims). After watching the film, the Gameavision team begins working on the ultimate achievement... a 16-bit game!! But unlike the Color Dreams NES game that was to use the custom-made super-cart, Gameavision succeeds... unfortunately. As they begin beta-testing what they call "the future of home video games", the game goes haywire. A mysterious vortex begins sucking all the Gameavision employees up. While hurtling towards an unseen end, they metamorphosis from 8-bit to 16-bit (a la Genesis), then to 32-bit (a la PlayStation), then to 64-bit (a la between PS1 and PS2), then to 128-bit (a la Xbox), and then finally, are bombarded by a strange all-encompassing light. And then, BAM!

They come to. From Jerry's POV, the destination comes into focus. He looks at his hands. They are not like his REAL hands, but are now...

[NOW IN LIVE-ACTION]

Real! He looks around. The world is much different. Gone are the Atari-esque landscapes, the androgynous men and women in Flock of Seagulls hairdos, and the quasi-futuristic cars. In this new and frightening time (and/or space), humping soda machines get you arrested, high-pitched homosexuals can't float or use magical powers, female gamers tend to have T&A, nerdy fantasy fanatics are pot-bellied, and a host of new dreams and nightmares await them. Jerry agrees that they will figure out where (and possibly WHEN) they are. They start with ideas of going home, but after a while, they choose to stay... at least some of them. Will they stay? Will they return back to their world (or time)? And more importantly... what are the consequences of their actions?

ANOTHER UPDATE!!

I came up with different ideas for subplots:

* Clarence discovers why his powers don't work and teams up with a fellow homosexual (played by Wilson Cruz) to restore their powers
* Todd falls for a female LARPer (hopefully played by Idina Menzel)

If Code Monkeys made a live action movie, i think i'd kill myself... its animated format is what adds to its greatness... LEAVE IT ALONE HOLYHELL (Hollywood) !

reply

I agree, but if they DO, this is who I'd love to see in it and how I'd love to see it done. And instead of instantly condemning it, I'd at least watch it. I mean, a bad live-action adaptation wouldn't ruin the actual show. If that was true, Aeon Flux the movie would have made the show suck, and thank God that's not the case.

reply

Black Steve would be played by Robert Downey Jr. in blackface.

"And then when she's unconscious I do stuff to her face."
Quagmire

reply

Orlando Jones for Black Steven.
Billy bob Thornton or Fred Ward for Larrity
Bai Lang as benny.
Justin Long as Jerry
Ryan Reynolds as Dave

I would however prefer they keep it in the present format.

Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead

reply

NO.

If they had to make a movie (which they shouldn't), then it would have to be 8-bit. I would allow one 1-2 minute live action scene (as like, a little joke) but no more.

We all deserve to die. Even you, Mrs. Lovett, even I.

reply

Mr. Larrity - Jack Nicholson
Dean - Aston Kutcher (He's got the dumb part down, all he needs are the muscles)
Claire - either Megan Mullally or Kristen Chenoweth
Black Steve - Samuel L. Jackson

"I am SICK of these mutherfuggin' glitches in my mutherfuggin' games!"

reply

Also, Jack Black as Todd. Mostly because he's probably the only person who'd do it. I can also see Johnny Knoxville as Dave.
