Guitar lessons wouldn't cost much.

He was also taking flying lessons, which are far from cheap. Remember he said no to everythng for ages so he probably had plenty of money saved up. Also, Norm got him a promotion then he moved up with the big boys at the bank, so he would have gotten a payrise.

I agree about Carlo "saving money". He was extremely cheap. So I guess he saved enough to have a relax life. Plus the promotion seemed to be pretty good.

He wasn't what I would call "cheap." Cheap would imply that he had the money to do things but chose not to because he didn't want to spend the money. Carl didn't do stuff because he simply didn't want to, spending the money wasn't an issue. This is kind of conformed when he does start saying yes that he has no issue spending his money.

But he was married for a while so the money he saved would have got spent by the wife.

But I think he was doing ok in money department. Not Millionaire but decent enough.

my older brother was head teller at a wells fargo and was getting paid around 30-35 an hours if i remember correctly. Carl was sitting at the desk so he was a banker, and getting promotions i would assume him getting paid way for that 35 an hour.

he didn't have a choice. he had to say yes no matter what. He'd find a way.

but yeah, he was old and in banking and didn't do anything. I'm sure he could scrounge up some money.

He seemed like the kind of guy who saved up. He didn't go out, he never said yes to anything. I feel like he would have a lot of money saved up.

CREDIT CARD

he worked at a bank he probably has a high credit limit and was stingy before he started saying yes, cuz he never went anywhere or did anything.

In the book all the money he spends is from credit cards as he keeps saying yes to the various promotions for new ones.

His new Job paid 65 grand a year, which is a decent wage. Plus he was careful for years so he probably had a lot saved up.

Funny thing, if he hadn't have been a no-man for so many years saving up money, he probably couldn't have afford to be a yes-man.

Near the beginning he got a raise to $65,000/yr. For a single man living in an apartment with no ridiculous car payment (I assume, since he drove a 20-year-old BMW) this would leave him with plenty of disposable income. On top of that, he was then given a raise to corporate-level, which more than likely would have put him up in 6 figures. He didn't move to a fancy apartment or lease a Porsche, so he would have plenty of play money to throw around.

He worked full time and probably got a decent wage, had no wife or kids, didn't have an extravagant car or flat and until the yes thing he never went out drinking or did much so he probably had loads saved up.
